Good afternoon, Gandy Dancers,
Per WU, it's 71° F -Feels like 70°;
The high will be 85° with a low of 60° tonight. Good sleeping weather;
It's Sunny with Winds from the SE.

Need to water the front yard now at 11:30 Am before it gets any hotter. Be back in about 45 minutes. Well I finished half of the front yard at around 1:20 Pm putting a good amount of water.

Good Morning All. 75° and clear to start the day. Cooled off a bit yesterday, only 94°...more of the same until Thursday when it will drop to the upper 80's. Not happy with the grocery/beer trek yesterday, grocery store is much more crowded on Friday than on my usual Thursday trip. Prettier young ladies on Thursday as well. Gave the grill a rest yesterday and prepared Italian sausage and homemade spaghetti sauce for supper. Today is roasted chicken in the crockpot.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I started making more trees, some for the scene that I am currently working on, some for the "tree stash"; since I have all of the materials lined up. At some point, I may have to try out those "Super Trees" that several of you have posted pictures of. Seems like they make great foreground trees but are a pain to assemble. I know that Dave (logandsawman) made a video that I will have to find and look at again. Started looking ahead at another area that I have a few buildings tentatively placed and decided to re-arrange, maybe. Industries and sidings will remain, but some other stuff might fit better if I move them. No scenery there yet in an area that I built and laid track 3+ years ago. The whole area is approximately 2' x 20' and contains five industries and an engine house and service facilities. It's also home to two Downtown Deco hydrocal structures among other buildings. It looks like they will shift 2" to the left but remain in the very foreground. The whole area is on the immediate upper level right hand side of the entry door, not quite the first scene seen upon entry, but close.

I hate out of season Christmas music. Play it in December only.

David - Good to hear that you finally got that tractor running. It will be handy.

Everybody have a great weekend.

Willie

Willie: Your very correct, having my tractor working again is a great relief and work saver. One of many things I need to do with it once I get a decent rain of at least 1/2", is to smooth up my drive way that I haven't touched in the last four plus years and it pretty bumpy with all the pot holes in it on the grades to climb up into the back yard.

Sorry to hear about the bad shopping experience, attractive ladies to view always makes it more pleasurable!

Good morning y'all. 71° an sunny.

David (CA): Actually, my layout hasn't progressed much since August of last year. I'm just learning how to operate it. I'm planning to extend it over the winter, to make it more interesting.

Local Weather Forecast for next Tuesday, shows this

It's going to be our turn in the bucket, as Tropical Storm Jose pays us a visit. The media is starting to foam at the mouth over this, even though most of the bad is expected to remain at sea. The previous unnamed TS, just before Harvey, garnered less than a whimper from the media, even though it dropped a lot of rain. Can't let all of y'all have all the "fun", can we?

Joe: You've had a full plate in other areas, and it all detracts from allowing us to keep various thoughts about our layouts foremost or nearly so in our thinking. It distracts us from creative thinking about what we want to do next and how we plan to do it.

Howdy, everybody .

I posed both of my new GP7's for a photo. ... #251 has factory equipped sound. I am not operating 210 yet because it is DCC ready. I have ordered a sound decoder for it.

Garry: Nice looking pair of Burlington Gps, first chance I had to go back and look at them.

Ho makes the new Trestle bridge you recently installed?

Afternoon All,

Did some chores inside today (thankfully) because it's a scorcher outside today. The heat index is 98 F with a clear sky and no breeze. I really feel for those still without power. I finally got hold of Jon today, he just got power back but his AC isn't working. He mainly had pool screen damage and a lot of debris in his yard.

I did a test of the bisque color today. It's really close and I did some weathering experiments on it. I took a picture but it just looks white whereas my eye can see the added color so no picture. I redid the pattern for the floor. This time I did it all in one piece, so tomorrow I hope to cut out the styrene I will actually be using. I also ordered all the things I need to make the facility. For the overhead lighting I plan on using copper tape instead of wire for most of it. I have seen several projects that have used this technique, and they have looked nice without all the wire for multiple lights.

CA Dave- I'm glad you're smart enough to find relief (that sounds bad but no insult is intended). Sounds like you are lucky having the casino so close.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Curt: Thanks for your concern, 'No Offense taken', it was a simple choice in the heat and free cold drinks besides or coffee to warm up a bit after being in there for awhile. Plus you get some interesting scenery to look at! Nothing that can be used on our layouts though! Actually, I was getting very board going over there day after day. I'm going to stay home today and maybe for quite awhile depending on the heat. I think it over with as today only got up to 85° so it's not too bad.

Good morning everyone. 64 and sunny here in SW MO. Should hit upper 80s today. Rain chances kick in Sunday and next week - we need it!

VA Ken - Very nice video(s).
Curt - Yeah, I've got to discipline myself to take photos of progress.

Had annual doctor visit yesterday. had the best health/medical report I've had in years. BP is under control, prostate okay, no heart issues, med dosages working, everything good. Then last night my knee acts up - I mangled it 45 years ago in a motorcycle accident, had surgery 20 years later but it didn't help, so I live with it - normally no problems but last evening it went berserk, could hardly walk, had to sleep sitting up; made it to work this morning but I'm hobbling. Will tough through it. Probably won't go downstairs to the train room today.

Trainroom last night (before the knee incident): Glued down the roadbed for the new siding, letting it dry overnight. Track goes in next. Hopefully over the weekend my knee will get good enough to where I can manage the stairs.

Have a good day everyone.

Johnny: About going down into the train room, just remember: Up with the Good leg, Down with the Bad leg!

Thanks Garry. Me too . One thing about these storms is they are unpredictable, as we found with Irma. Time will tell. I have a few things to secure this weekend, just in case.

Joe: Lets hope Jose' passes you by bye a long distance!

Wishing all of you a safe week end.

We went boating this afternoon, and look what we saw in our lake. USS LST 325 was part of the D-Day invasion in WW II. Now it is part of a museum in Evansville, IN. Today. it was returning to Evansville from visits in Nashville, TN and Clarksville, TN where it was open to the public.

Louis: After over 39 years in the shopping mall business, I know all about early Christmas Carols. They started weeks before Thanksgiving!!! And, it was my fault. By the second week of December I had the recordings on the system memorized and knew which carol was next. I had a speaker near my office door so we could enjoy the background music and I wanted to rip that speaker out from the ceiling by Christmas.
Greg

Greg, that is tragic, but perfectly understandable and exactly why, despite the popular belief (that I encourage) I don't play Christmas music year round. I don't begin to play Christmas music regularly until after thanksgiving dinner. If you do anything over and over it becomes mundane.

I will however play songs like this one occasionally throughout the year to see the looks on my wife's face :)

Good grief LOUIS what are you, like 7?:(

Close, I try to relate to my grandsons they are 8 and 9. :)

Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional. - Carroll Bryant

Karl, I hope you can hear the Polar Express Bell ringing.

I can still hear it, because I believe :)

Good morning .... I'll have coffee and a donut, please.

Louis .... Your posts remind me for some reason of the sweatshirt my wife gave to me. ... "Still Plays With Trains".

Happy Model Railroading, everybody.

Good morning. It's sort of cloudy, and kind of cool.
Garry, I got the TSU-1000 for the CB&Q SD24 I picked up last weekend, and was wondering how, or if, you wired the headlights on your Geeps. This seems to have a double sealed-beam headlight, a single Gyralight, and a single red emergency light. All the lights, except for the emergency light, light when the headlights are on, and I'd like to correct that.

Good Morning All. 74° and clear this morning in beautiful North Central Texas. The ten day forecast has changed again and it now shows that these mid-90's high temperatures will last until Saturday now. Kind of nice as the pool temperature climbed back up to 80° yesterday, well within my tolerance range...Here I come again today!!!
Made some more trees in the train shed yesterday. Planted some of them and set others back for future use, Current scene only requires smaller ones so they were easy. Used light green and burnt green foam yesterday, today will be medium green for more variety. I have evergreen armatures and dark green foam that I will use next. After today, I will have to paint some more armatures before I can proceed. Ran a few trains and made some minor adjustments to Athearn blue box coupler heights, the clips were coming loose. These were all on freight cars that have been parked on industry sidings for a while and haven't been run lately.

Joe - I wish you good luck with Jose. I haven't looked at any weather yet this morning so I don't know which way it may be headed today. Regarding being off on weekends. I used to take my vacation days one at a time on Fridays. Many times, it would be decided on Friday that Saturday work was needed, but guess what? Willie wasn't there to get notified. I don't answer the phone at home anyway, so I couldn't be reached! It was OK though, because I hired people that could do their jobs whether I was there or not. I was a senior manager and only had managers and clerks working directly for me.
Eric - I never have purchased any train stuff off E-Bay, but I have always read and heard good things regarding "wehonest.com". I should probably try them out sometime. Ditto what Curt posted about leaving space between track and backdrop. A few random trees and other scenery in between can do wonders to the overall visual effect.
Louis - Only 290 days left until July 4th.

Everybody have a great Sunday.

Willie
