Good morning. It's mostly clear and 37.
We have returned to our point of departure, and there are no senior citizens camped out in our front yard, preparing to storm the house.

Good Monday Morning All. 48° and clear as can be. Our great fall weather is forecast to continue for at least the next eight days, Low to mid 70°'s for a high and around 50° for the lows. 20 mph winds from the south will warm today up to near 80°. Had a return visit from the grandsons and my daughter yesterday afternoon to pick up the granddog who they left here Thursday. She (the dog) has developed a habit of dragging kindling out of the firewood stack, playing with it and then leaving it scattered over the yard. She has done this many times before, but added a new item to her collection this time. She is gathering acorns from a bur oak tree (they're as large as a lemon) and leaving them much closer to the house, thus making walking in the yard a bit more treacherous especially at night. I have the grandsons clean up both now where they used to only have to do the firewood.
I did spend a little time in the train shed, making a fence and a woodpile for the BBQ restaurant's meat smoker. But I fired up the trains and all thoughts of scenery disappeared.

Ken (D&J) - Forgot to comment on your intermodal train, looked great. Realistic number of cars for a model railroad. On the BNSF near me, there is usually 25-30 cars per engine. I limit mine to 17 wells w/double-headed engines, since that is the maximum that I can fit in most passing sidings. One note though, I have never observed a 40' container on top of a longer one, it's always the shorter containers on the bottom, at least on the BNSF and also the UP around here.
Curt - Happy Birthday for your Mom.
Chet - Congratulations on the bowling tournament.

OK, here is a video posted on You Tube Saturday, While mildly amusing it is also a sad reflection on something that is affecting all parts of America today, not just California where it was filmed.

Everybody have an awesome day and a great week ahead.

Good morning. 45°, sunny and breezy. Just moved 10, 55 gallon containers of leaves to the front curb, for pickup sometime between now and Christmas. Hopefully it won't snow in between, or public works will have a real mess on their hands. After coffee, there is more to rake and move...

Good morning everyone....clear and nice here in southeastern Wisconsin. Mild so far with a little snow.

Traveled via motor-coach to Harris, UP to a recently remodel Casino fro Thanksgiving. There was a short line below our 10th story room and it looked like HO from the sky. The line travels along Highway 41/2 into Wisconsin. Nice late night trains with their horns...!

aybe train today, we'll see.

Greg

Good Morning - Well, I think it is. Back at the homestead after a 10 -1/2 hour drive from Apache Junction, Arizona. OK .. I admit that I stopped once for gas and twice to let the doggies sniff around in the desert, squat, and hike a leg. Other than that, they never left their positions of the little one laying on my lap while raising up to stick his head out and the larger one with her head stuck out the window or curled up in the passenger seat - spoiled brats for sure!
Traffic moved pretty well except the stretch of I-10 between Indigo and the Beaumont turnoff where I head South. It too me ONE solid hour to progress 2 miles from the Palm Springs Exit to the Morango Valley Exit - and then 5-10 MPH for most all of the remainder to the Beaumont Exit. While we were stuck on the freeway, I observed numerous truckers - and other vehicles - with dogs heads poking out the sides. One trucker that we moved in step with for that two miles had what looked like a miniature Husky with him. My girl and he were trying to establish a date I think - they kept up an occasional communication for a ways. When we finally pulled up to the homestead, all three of us made a bee-line to the door and all three of us flopped down on the carpet in the family room - all extremely happy to exit that moving vehicle!

Joe - Just put the leaves in the back of your truck and then go fast - they will disappear - lol. That's a lot of leaves - Actual drums, or large bags?

CHET - Have you checked the length of your arm? Holy Pins, Batman - that's quite a marathon! AND congrats on the score!
BTW - Still quite a train - looks very nice.

David Sure glad that the fire dept was able to put that out. guess they think someone is setting them? You saved the day, er night!

Curt I have to go bac and read your posts' again. I missed what the dryer was about. Watch that grease in the oven. Every six months or thereabouts - I just use Easy-OFF (WALLY WORLD brand). Doesn't take long and leaves the oven looking "new".

Glad to hear that most all had a nice Holiday? Terry = glad to hear that you had no Squatters show up?

Supposed to only get up tp 64 today - then high 70's rest of week.

Willie - that video is most alarming. If they are at a job, they must have traveled there by car.
Sherrel - at least you should have been able to watch the train traffic while sitting on I-10.

Willie, I've seen the shorter containers on top of larger ones many times. It's relatively infrequent, and may only be when the containers are empty.

Good morning. Started off at 50 degrees this morning with some pretty good rain. My computer at work bit the dust and was hauled off to get repaired, so I came home to see a light dusting of snow on the ground. Tonight it is supposed to get into the mid teens.

Justin - Nice photo. You are making some progress.

Terry
- You are lucky no seniors are in your yard. You never know what they could come up with. Lots of experience there.

Willie
- Glad that for the most part we don't have much of a traffic problem out here. The trip to the tournament in Laurel was 150 miles and we did it at just a hair over 2 hours (at the 80 mph speed limit) and got to do a lot of train watching as the Montana Rail Link tracks just about parallel the interstate all of the way. Lots of action. The yard at Laurel is the beginning of the leased track for the MRL.

Joe - Not much of a problem with leaves up here. With the occasional high winds we can get, they're all a few counties away.

Believe it or not!
There was not one train that came by the entire way going in either direction! I was thinking the same that I could at least watch trains too!

That's a lot of leaves - Actual drums, or large bags?

Sherrel: Actual Rubbermaid container, with 55 gal capacity.

Willie: Interesting video, when we first became aware of the MIL's issues, we hound an astounding amount of opioid medications. Had to bring them to NJ to dispose of them, the cops in Pa weren't the least concerned. Then again, PA is a epicenter of the epidemic. Doctors just write Rx without regard, and Pharmacies just fill them. They are rather cheap, so paying cash, and no insurance is no problem. BTW, she's being weaned off the last of 'em now, already off of three others.

Chet:
I hear ya, and I wish. Here, when the wind blows from the Southwest, the leaves literally blow into our neighborhood, from the next county...

Good afternoon fellow Switch and Breakmen,

Hi Francine, No Flo? Oh, she left with Sherrel again, hah. That guy sure seems to have all the luck. How about some coffee and a nice slice of Pumpkin Pie. Thanks, glad you have some left over. Your out of Whip Creme though, no problem, plain is fine.

Lets check WU and see what they say is going on?

Say Justin: Your town and the mountain hillside are looking very good. I don't have much experience with paved roads or applying lines but once you get ready to try it again, how about using some painters tape that seals good along the edges such as the Blue stuff? You'll figure it out I'm sure.

Sherrel: Wow, 10.5 hours of driving, man that makes for a long day and then to get stuck in snail paced traffic on top of it too! I'll bet you were tired when you got home.

It sure does seem odd you didn't see one train going or coming back in all that distance.

About my calling the Fire crew, I probably could have gone around front and grabed that 100' hose and connected it to the one on the back side of the house but I wasn't moving around very well at the time. It does let me know though that I need to do more mowing of that back area like I used to and can again now that I have my tractor with heavy duty mowing
deck running again as well as other areas and with the most recent rain once things dry out a bit it should be a great time to do it!

Oh, say Francine, How about another slice of Punkin Pie and more coffee. Francine, where'd she run off too?

Hope everyone as a good day.

Evening All,

Slept like crap again last night. Drove down to order the oven part and should have it in about a week. Didn't try to do anything in the train room since I had zero motivation and low energy today.

Chet- Great looking town and train. Is that a decal on the end of the observation car or a sign you made?

CA Dave- Sounds like you were very lucky with the outdoor fire.

Justin- I was going to recommend Chartpak tape that I used in the Navy (available in art and stationary stores), but Joe's recommendation is probably easier to find and cheaper.

I hope everyone has a great night.

Joe -That's just a decal I had. I believe you had mentioned a lighted drum head. This is what I remember seeing on the back of the observation car. 9370.1296796258.jpg

Evening fellers. Some good recommendations on my road lines. I'm sure I'll get it figured out. I just know free hand isn't a good idea. Definitely got the T-shirt on this one.

Well dang, that makes the trip very miserable.
10 hours? I drive from King George, VA to Detroit, MI in 10 hours. That's 600 miles.

Good evening.

We are gradually getting back to normal after a very busy 10 day period. .... I spent time with the layout today..... Ran some trains.... Corrected a problem with some track that was causing derailments. ... Getting started with scenery that will be beneath teh wood truss bridge. I will do that before installing the bridge.

I hope each of you is doing well.

Happy Model Railroading.

DAVID - Flo and I are going to have a lot of fun with that Whip Creme - sorry!
