Running Bear's Coffee Shop LXVII

I could use some rolling stock variety.
Boxcars and tankers. Got plenty of gondolas.

No, not really sarcastic.
I have a pair of BLI sharks, painted D&H blue and silver warbonnet, a Rivarossi U25c, L&N, silent decoder, Bowser C430, L&N, silent decoder, or RDG C430, silent decoder, heavily weathered, Athearn gas turbine with silent decoder, Atlas FM H16-44, NYC, with loksound decoder, Walthers/Proto RS27 pair in Conrail blavk/Penn Central patch, and QSI sound, Atlas Alco RS32 with tsunami, BLI UP MT73, grey, with sound and smoke, BLI ATSF 3756 4-8-4 with QSI sound and no smoke.

Wow Terry, thats alot! Those BLI Sharks would be tempting if I didn't have a pair in Brass. How much for one of the C430s? Would you consider a partial trade for an F3B in Southern? Or undec Bachmann Plus F7b undec? or an undec yellow box Alco RS11??
I know the pinch. The Impala had a computer issue the beginning of last month, cost me a grand, then the truck went in for almost a thou for repairs, and now SWMBO wants a new Impala!

Spent most of the day working on cleaning up the basement and almost finished reassembling the tender for my B&O T3. Next I have to finish assembling the loco . I'm still on the fence about replacing the stock motor with a Canon can. This thing started as an IHC Mountain that was missing the smokebox front, plus lots of detail parts. I threw my spare parts bins at it, then the airbrush and loaded the tender with a Soundtraxx decoder. It's starting to look like a proper loco now!

Karl, the C430s would be $75. It has an ESU Lokpilot decoder, so all the lighting functions work. It was a Reading unit, 4212, and the previous owner overweathered it. My friend in Montoursville sent me a new shell, L&N, which is all he had as a complete shell. So, it could be either a nice L&N unit, or a weathered to crap RDG unit, but not both. I don't think I could do much with either of the F units, and I just got rid of my last RS11.

All I need of the C430 is a running chassis anyway (I've got another shell) so consider it sold. Paypal, check, M.O. tell me how you want the $$$. I'll catch up to you tomorrow, if I can during the day, if not tomorrow night. Depends on the work environ.

I'll just leave this here,
Sherrel, keep the heart pills handy.

Paypal is fine. let me know which, if any, body you want on the frame.

When you need fuel .. just drive the truck up to the loco!
This is from Santa Fe Springs area ... Looks to me, as many locos as they service that BNSF should have a fueling track in the refinery there?

Reminds me of the day the Sun Oil crew's shifter ran out of fuel, inside the Sun refinery. it was hilarious, when the fuel contractor pulled up along side the engine with a big Gulf oil truck, to fuel the engine....

Put in another 820 miles on the Harley today. Ft. Stockton to just short of Memphis, TN. Should be able to do the last 910 miles tomorrow.
Looking forward to getting home and running some trains.

Finally found my containers.
Here is the crane picking up one of them.

Louis: Ubaldo threw a lot of pitches, didn't make it through the 6th, but only allowed a single run. Big improvement. That was Matty Wieters Grand Slam for the Nats. O's never should have let him get away. A win's a win, and 2 back in the WC is great. Hope I didn't jinx them.

Ken D&J. .. you are only 200 miles from
me in western KY. We are at Land Between the Lakes where US 68 and KY 80 cross over the lakes. Feel free to detour this way if you wish.

Joe .. thanks for sharing the fuel truck story. LOL

I got to see Matt turn around that high pitch around. I knew it was going to be deep, but WOW, 410+ feet to straight away center! I am a big fan of Matt, he seems to do his best when you need him the most, a good situational hitter as well. He seldom strikes out with runners in scoring position. The problem is money. The Nats paid for a lot more than a 245 average and projected to hit 19 homeruns with 70 RBI, if he can get 500 at bats. That is a big if, he has not had 500 ABs since 2013 Even still I miss him, but at 31 his best years are behind him. Caleb Joseph is hitting 290 and Castillo is hitting 284. together they have already combined for 17 homeruns.

I would have liked to have kept Matt as a DH, part time catcher. That's another problem with all these pitchers. Teams carrying 13 pitchers don't have much room position players. The rosters should be expanded to at least 27 or even 28, but the owners don't want to pay 2 or 3 more major league salaries. It hurts the game. No more managers playing matchups and 2 sometimes 3 pinch hitters. Like Curt said money over rules the good of the fans.

I remember the A's in 1974 I think it was had a guy on the bench just to pinch run!

I found him, Herb Washington!

Sometimes Earl Weaver's Orioles had as few as 8 pitchers on the staff. The dynamics of the game have changed so much, too much, expand the rosters!

I've decided to add some more stuff to the cull.
A pair of Genesis GP9s in Chessie. One B&O, the other C&O. One has a Tsunami, the other has a Soundtraxx motor decoder.
Athearn RTR GP40-2, Chessie/GM50, with added Tsunami.
MTH GP35 in B&O blue and yellow, and an MTH GP35 in Chessie, both with factory sound.
I also have a string of Bethgons in CSX, some grey, some black. One of them has a no-longer-working FRED.

Louis: I have not even considered roster expansion, interesting idea. I do find it strange, that we have so many Hall of Fame pitchers, who used to do their training in a saloon. These guys were expected to pitch 9 or 10 innings an outing, and managed to survive a long career. If Cy Young pitched by today's standards, he would have been an unknown, and there would be no Cy Young award. Tillman should have sat out the season, slowly rehabing his way back to the rotation. The O's don't need another one inning relief specialist.

The owners have a lot of money, or they wouldn't be in the game. TV throws a lot of money at sports leagues, but it's like making a deal with the devil, the Leagues cede control to the Networks. Wonder how much this factors in? Angelos is a TV guy, who owns a team, similar to Jimmy Dolan in New York. When was the last time the Nicks or the Rangers won anything?

Good Monday Morning All. 72° and mostly cloudy. Lots of thunder and lightening from around 4 pm yesterday, overnight until about an hour ago. Sprinkled a bit, less than .05" in the gauge, I don't really have markings for less than .1" so that's an estimate. Weather forecasters missed yesterday's forecast high temperature by 7°, getting only up to 93°. I hit a lull in yardwork yesterday, although I should have fired up the weedeater. It's also time to resume firewood preparation for the winter heating season coming up. Got a lot of stuff cut last spring, just need to trim to size.
Out in the train shed, I am still gradually adding metal wheels to older freight cars. Got four more done yesterday. Of course after I convert them, I have to give them some laps back and forth on both levels to assure that they are OK! I prepared some previously laid track for painting by vacuuming and adding ties between flex track sections where needed. I had previously removed all trackside structures and details. I spray paint with a rattle-can of Model Master "Light Earth", then go back in a day or so and paint random ties with a variety of brown paints. I also highlight some of the rail as well, but mostly leave the rail alone. Of course I wipe the rail tops clean before the paint dries, thus reducing any major effort later. The plan is to do 12' this go-around. At least that's how far I removed stuff.

Sherrel -
You must have breathed a little too much of that Lasagna smoke
Heck! Lasagna is one of the few things that I don't grill over a fire! 1/2 mile walk. That's actually pretty good progress given the amount of time that you have been recuperating.
Louis - Dang! I was expecting a "good/bad/indifferent" answer. Didn't mean to get you so wound up. I guess that the answer is bad. By the way, I don't disagree with anything that you posted, except the golf stuff. C'mon, whack a little ball as far as you can, then chase it down and play hide and seek with it until you find it (not always); and then do it again...for a hundred times in a row!!! But the scenery is great at places like Augusta and Pebble Beach.
Curt - You're right about pro sports, the fans are only there to support them. I knew a few Dallas Cowboys back in the 60's when everyone on the team had a regular job to support their families. You're making some good progress on the building. I wouldn't worry too much about the rough cutouts, as long as the window trim covers it.
Garry - Your post reminded me that I am still waiting for those rich entertainers to move to Canada!
Terry - Sorry to hear about your truck repairs. Is this the same truck that was giving you the axle problem a few months back? Can't really help with the engine clearance as nothing fits my era or railroad.

Everybody have a great day.

Willie

Sounds goog Garry but I'm really pressed to get home now. Almost three weeks on the road and I'm ready for my own bed and refridgerator.
