Good morning, America! It's a balmy 59 degrees right now, in Forgottonia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forgottonia), with a few thunderstorms and a high of 67 foreseen for this afternoon.
The annual Spoon River Drive ( http://www.spoonriverdrive.org/index.htm) is over for another year, thank goodness, and the fall colors have peaked. The colors were especially vivid this year and the farmers had about 90% of the corn crop out, so you could see the trees very well. The Drive started as a path through Spoon River country to enjoy the fall colors and some truly home made crafts during the first two full weekends in October. It has devolved into a 200 mile, or thereabouts, yard sale with more and more junk from everybody's basement and cheap crap made in China that passes as "crafts". There are some real treasures to be found, but you have to sift through tons of junk to find them. The only redeeming value is the food. Some of it is really fantastic, but it's just like everything else associated with the Drive, you have to search out the good stuff.
The Spoon River was made famous from Edgar Lee Masters' book, Spoon River Anthology, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spoon_River_Anthology.
