Mmmm, turbos
Hey Bill:
What do you do with the old #5's that you are disacrding in favor of #58's?

Hi bob, thank's they are about the same length in the shank as a #5 Kadee with just about as big mounting hole. The truck coupler pin is less than 1/16" and the diameter of the hole in the dummy coupler shank is about 1/8" not a very good match. I made a little centering washer and it's now mounted on a truck. The first was the most difficult the next ones should be easy now that I know how to do it. Spent a lot of time coming up with a 1/8" diameter washer with a 1/16 dia. center hole.Willis, as far as the Dummy couplers. I really don't know how long the Shanks are so as too whether or not you can leave them in the Truck mounts
Oh! Oh! I'll take 'em! LoLabcraghead said:Hey Bill:

Hi Kenedy, well I guess you know what you're doing , and I'll have to log onto the Kadee site and have a look see. For me I'm still doing the dummy couplers with the hoppers.by cutting off the shelfs on the 118, it will be very similar to the Type H Passenger car coupler.

A B B B B A
Kadee #5s don't fit quite as well with the dummy couplers, so they've been removed from the unit trains. The dummy couplers look great, they couple tightly which reduces slack significantly, and they're really inexpensive.
.
I like what I see, but I can't get my hands on any! Last time I was at their site it said they were completely out of everything. It looks like they have them back in stock now though (?). Where did you get yours? Is ordering directly from them the only way to get them?jbaakko said:Wow old thread alive again... I'm now convinced the Sergent Enineering EC87's are the GOD of all couplers!
