Is squirting a cat’s face with water from a spray bottle an effective way to tell the cat to get off your train layout? And is this humane?
Is it humane? Yes, maybe catmane! However the cat's reaction might damage stuff and knock rolling stock off to the floor. Better to keep the cat out of the train room to begin with.Is squirting a cat’s face with water from a spray bottle an effective way to tell the cat to get off your train layout? And is this humane?
Thanks!Spraying a cat from a mister is actually a recommended pet tip for cat discipline. They never jumped on my train table, maybe just lucky that way.

I'll leave it to you to decide the cruel part? You will only have to do it a couple times and they are smart enough to get the message. Use a "misting" bottle - not a stream!I double checked on google about squirting water on a cat and the information I read said that it doesn’t work and that it is cruel.
Genius. Thanks!I'll leave it to you to decide the cruel part? You will only have to do it a couple times and they are smart enough to get the message. Use a "misting" bottle - not a stream!
Don't spray them EXCEPT when they are on the layout!
It's hard to believe a thread about keeping a cat off your layout could turn political, but here we are.I double checked on google about squirting water on a cat and the information I read said that it doesn’t work and that it is cruel. Is that true?
Seems to me the conversation has delved into ethics but not politics. It's hard to believe a thread about keeping a cat off your layout could turn political, but here we are.
If you didn't know, that's one of two things Bob, the forum owner, doesn't allow.
That's because the political part was removed for your viewing pleasure.Seems to me the conversation has delved into ethics but not politics.
I see. My apologies. That's because the political part was removed for your viewing pleasure.
I tried that on the cat I have when he was young and it didn't work. He is "Mr. Stubborn" and just shrugged it off.Is squirting a cat’s face with water from a spray bottle an effective way to tell the cat to get off your train layout? And is this humane?
We did use it on our cats to keep them off the counter, the kitchen counter. We sprayed them once and after that all we had to do was get the misting bottle out and they would skedaddle!I tried that on the cat I have when he was young and it didn't work.
