I did the water last... Because it was the part I feared would be the hardest. And it was... Sort of. It's hard to get good Intel on the various techniques, especially if doing a fairly large body of water.

I bet if you make a post on a technique you would get oodles of input.

I plan on scenery first.

I think that is a good way to go doing scenery first, just make you stick to as realistic as possible especially where the water shores are concerned, like use real rocks, real dried out sticks to represent logs ( I like the ones that snap when you bend them )

I did, sort of... here and on MTF. Starts around post 67... I followed the advice of a person on MTF. The advice was not great. In fact, it was erroneous and way over simplified. But I don't intend to hijack this thread

Those look great! You can also use parchment paper, but wax paper works too!

I liked to make long "strings" of weeds, like you would see between the ruts in a gravel road. Just leave a string of glue instead of a dollap.

Roots. They are pretty fragile. I’m thinking about dipping them in the latex.

I think I spend more time waiting on glue to dry than I do working on it.

I’ve watched all of his videos, he’s the example I’m trying to use.

We have hundreds of maple trees sprouting in our gardens every year, they have great roots for trees!
I left some last year to harvest this summer. I’m planning on trying other roots as well.

Roots installed, I will give them a little paint soon as the glue dries also used some of that turf to simulate moss in the bottom of the pond.

Anyway you do a great work. Awesome layout !

Actually, it’s my second time to do the same layout but I got transferred to a different duty station and wasn’t able to take it with me so I sold it. I was to the point of building bridges and hadn’t done any cuts yet.

As @wombat457 mentioned Luke Towans has some info. I've probably learned more from Boomer Diorama's because he really goes into explaining why he does something a particular way. In the end there are multiple right and wrong ways to do it. Just enjoy the process an experiment on small pieces or examples.

I added another layer if moss and hallelujah it rained last night.
Stir for 10 min. This product has a 2 hour working time so bubbles shouldn’t be a problem. Hopefully
