Morning all,

59° and clear this morning. High of 91° later. Chance of not getting rain is 95%. Record high for this date is 92° so we're a bit above normal and highs in the low 90's for the next week. Expecting a couple of record breaking highs during the next week.

Slept pretty well last night for the first time in a while. Turned off the lights and woke when the wife turned off the alarm at 4:30a. It doesn't go off until 5: but really never does anyway. Tonight the tape comes off the trim and all the parts get put back into place (wall plates, towel bars, etc.) that's about a 15 minute job.

Boss was due back today from vacation, but when the company cell dinged at 5:0 this morning, I told the wife it was the boss calling in sick. Checked the message and she ask what the message was. I said the boss calling in sick...Should be a quiet day.

Morning! FLO, eggs up with bacon and hash browns, sourdough toast, and a sliced tomato.
Thanks - with a diet DP!

Supposed to be an 86f high today (weather guessers blew it yesterday with an 87f high)
with clear and sunny.

Have to move the washer and dryer out today and then place them back in reverse order. I am pretty sure that the dryer won't bypass the washer to get out of the door; however, need the room anyway to make the vent and gas connections to the new dryer. I dread moving the washer - them things are heavy and I am not the person I once was - getting old sux!

PATRICK - Happy to hear that you had a good night! I faired pretty well too - only had to make 3 potty waltzes - I consider anything less than 4 a win-win!

Good Morning All. Clear, 70° and quite bright. Full moon on Friday. High yesterday of 95°, which is the forecasted high for the next ten days at least. Overnight lows around 70°± for the same time period. Maybe rain next month, the 2% chance yesterday didn't happen! Today's chance is up to 4% - not sure why they even put that in the forecast other than to CYA. Due to the complete lack of wind yesterday, we awoke to an AQI of 62 this morning. Expecting to remain in the moderate range all day.

Back to the doctor thing today, a vascular surgeon who I have seen before. He's going to look at all of the ultrasound scans from last month; the ones that one office couldn't manage to get to the other. I personally dropped them off about 10 days ago. The interesting thing is that the primary care person said that they sent them four times, but the specialist's office claimed that they never received them. Interesting thing though, is that they received the referral that was sent in the same manner!?!? It was a real time-consuming drag filling out the patient paperwork for this visit, 12 pages of stuff that hasn't changed since my last visit in 2020, except for a couple of medication changes. Those I have on a spreadsheet already so I just have to print them out rather than grabbing each bottle to get the spelling and dosage size.

I climbed on the tractor yesterday and did some more mowing, back yard and much of the north side. After it warmed up, it was laundry and dishwasher tasks indoors. After the doctor today, I will attempt to scrub the stovetop. I can do it but I can never make the other half happy.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I completed the second wing of the Motor Inn.

So it was time to add the guardrails around the roof on the wings. One went OK.

The other one was missing three posts. I fashioned my own using .040" styrene rod. The posts themselves are .060" but I don't have any of that size in the styrene stash. I don't think that it will be noticeable as they will be in the back anyway.

A little paint next and that will complete the upper part of the structure. Next I will work on the pedestal bases and staircases. There's no building base included with this kit, it is intended to just rest on the layout. I'll have to see how that works out; I can always add a flat styrene sheet to it.

James/Sherrel - Another ATSF FP45, #97 is at the Museum of the American Railroad, located about 30 miles away from me in Frisco TX. I believe that it still is operational.
Curt - I have several areas on the layout where that structure would fit, and also not look out of place. I can't model the adjoining highway; I'll have to use my imagination. Despite it's shortcomings, it was a gift from my late mother and I never had the heart to get rid of it.
Tom O - The city of West alongside I35 is always a stopping point for us. Kolaches and pigs-in-a-blanket are always welcome on that trip. I'll be stopping there near the end of October, since on this year's trip to Gulf Shores AL, we plan to take IH10 all the way to San Antonio on the return trip; to see our son/grandson. Hoping to work in the train museums in Galveston and Texas City along the way as well. Then north on IH35 through West on the way home. Of course we'll use TX-130 (speed limit 85 mph) to bypass Austin.
Yes, the express lanes have done wonders for getting through Ft Worth.

Today would have been Meatloaf's (Bat out of Hell) 76th birthday, but we unfortunately lost him last year.
Everybody have a great Wednesday.

Got new peepers this week.

Doing the home errands before going to do the mom errands.

Got 1200 words worded this morning, as well as 600+ last night on the next project. I'm learning that when the words want to flow, don't make them wait...

Oh, and 2 inches of rain fell last night. More gentle showers expected today.

More later as events warrant

Good Morning!

It's about 37F outside this morning, under a mostly sunny sky.
Seems like a bad time to try and sell a small rowboat, but, I'm going to try and sell it cheap today. The wife wants it gone because she needs the area where it's stored to winter her plant and garden stuff.

I like this time of year. Even the forest floor is kind of pretty:

I don't have much to say lately, so I just come in when-ever. It does seem like everyone is having fun though, except Patrick who seems to be painting more walls than models. Should be a journeyman painter by now.

Anyway, I gotta go try and sell a boat. Have a great day!

Stick the rowboat out front, fill it with dirt, and use it as a planter. Problem solved.

I don't remember the last time I have stopped by here. I haven't forgotten y'all. I just haven't taken the time to stop by. I haven't done much of anything train related. Mostly packing things that aren't needed away and planning on relocating in the future. Days have been a blur for me. I'm caught up in a daily routine that just makes the days merge together. With a move in the future I've put a new build on hold. I haven't been idle however. I have taken up scale modeling as a get me by for the time being. It's a bit easier on the wallet but can't replace my trains. Haven't fully neglected my trains either. I purchased my first steamer. It's outside of my era that I model but it was too good of a deal to pass up. My son definitely enjoys it more. I'll share some of my scale modeling I've been up to. The spitfire will need the decals redone. I'll get to it eventually I'm sure. That's all I have for now. I hope everyone is doing well.

A 109E. A famous one at that (don't remember who had the R-shield but have seen many pics of it). looks fun. I bought some Panther tank models like 25 years ago but have not opened them yet. I did do a bunch of modeling back in my youth and would like to have done some with my son when he was growing up but we ended up doing other things.

Enjoy the modeling!

Just learned my boyhood idol, Orioles Third Baseman, Brooks C. Robinson passed at age 86. When I started following the Birds in the 60s, Brooks was already the Best Third baseman in the Majors, and In My opinion, no one else will ever claim that title from him. RIP Brooks. Thanks for the memories.
Boris, I could not agree more!

Afternoon all,

Had most of the day to catchup on things that have been set aside for things that took precedence. Have a meeting tomorrow (working with a vendor) to move our backups to the cloud. I actually have backups now instead of just copies of the servers. Now that I just upgraded the server virtualization environment during the last maintenance window a few weeks back, I get an email about an online class from the software manufacturer about a class to help you learn how to upgrade the systems...Nice timing.

Guy: Nice forest floor pictures. Most of the trees in my area are just starting to turn, and most of them are yellow. We tend to go from green to yellow to brown. And then get some green poking through in the early spring. Not the complexity of colors you get from the woods in your area.
I think I can qualify above journeyman painter... 😁

Afternoon All,

Started out the day doing chores then about 10:30 am MOH says "lets go to Sam's Club. Crap! :( I did get about 2 miles of walking there, but spent way, way too much $$$$. Tomorrow MOH wants to go to the regular grocery stores.:(

Troy- That chicken parm looks very tasty. Nice looking glasses.

Sherrel- How about putting sliders under the feet?

Willie- Nice save. I wasn't knocking your build. I really didn't think you had a large urban type of area. If I had something that was MRR from my Mom I can guarantee it would be on the layout.

Guy- Good luck with the boat and neat photo of the leaves. We have 2 colors: green and brown.

Justin- Great to see you posting again. When you're working and raising a family you have a full plate. Very nice planes. They bring back memories of childhood putting model planes together.

I hope everyone has a good night.

And .... I get to go see Mom again tomorrow.

The Dr Appt was on the wrong day on my calendar. Since I had entered them standing at the desk when we make them, makes me wonder if they changed the date, called Mom and she forgot.

I asked to have my phone # added as the confirmation texts.
