Looking for ideas as to what the September 2009 Photo Contest theme should be. Thought it would be fun to put all ideas into a poll and let the membership vote the theme of their choice. :)

1. Bridges

2. Backstops

3. Your best personally handmade tree of any kind

4. Your power lines/telephone/telegraph lines and poles

4. Level/grade crossings

5. Signals

6. Best looking turnout (handlaid or commercial, as long as the goal prior to
taking the image was to improve its overall appearance in some way)

7. Your best tunnel portal

8. Your best engine weathering

9. The image that shows your backdrop the best

10. Your best green space

11. Shoving on a grade

12. Favourite fence that is scratch-built or commercially available (one or the
other for what should be obvious reasons)

13. Rail fanning

14. Spectacular overhead shots (or maybe high on shots?)

15. Right down at track level. (going away or coming towards..., they each
have their appeal)

16. Coming 'round the bend

That should keep us busy for a while.

Im new here but thought bridges and trestles would be a good subject. However, I like the waterfront idea too.

Another one that may be a little strange. But im a fan of signal towers. Something about the architecture of a classic signal tower.

1. Depots
2. Engine Service facilities
3. Turntables
4. Water (creeks, rivers, lakes/ponds)
5. Mines
6. small industry by dimensions (less than)
7. Large industry by dimensions (more than)
8. Rock Formations
9. Auto Roads
10. Funny people scenes

Wow, some great suggestions there!
How about the most unusual thing on the layout, or most unusual rolling stock?

Wow! That's enooght ideas to keep you busy about a year at least.

I'll add my vote for the most realistic business district.

I posted these three years ago or so. Haven't looked through the recent lists to see how many if any had been used, so here are some of my ideas, not necessarily in any order:

1. On Time
2. Critter Encounters
3. Old Reliable
4. Casey Jones Complex
5. Personification (photographer's self portrait in models)
6. Sunset (or sunrise), Twilight?
7. Oops! (model train wrecks)
8. The Ubiquitous Box Car
9. Over the River and through the woods (Thanksgiving - November?)
10. First Class
11. Inspiration (recent shot of prototype that is modelable).
12. Silhouette
13. Loco Motion
14. Recession
15. End of the Line

Some of them are purposely vague to allow more creativity in the interpretation.
