I use to think I have spent too much on my trains, then I looked at every page of this thread.

I am defiantly in the minor leagues of this hobby!

Great pictures gentleman and some very impressive collections!

Thanks for sharing them.

Hey there!

Well, I thought I'll show my locomotives too. My collection is nothing compared to most of the ones shown here.

However, I'm proud of my very tiny collection :).

My locomotives:

2 Athearn GP38-2s Norfolk Southern 5287 & 5325

2 Atlas Trainman 3GS21Bs Norfolk Southern 300 & 301

1 Bachmann GP40 chassis (in fully working order)

Here is a picture of all 4 Norfolk Southern units:

Image1402.jpg

Future locomotives on list would be (subjected to change):

Athearn Norfolk Southern SD40E

Athearn Norfolk Southern SD40-2

And maybe another Athearn or Atlas Trainman GP38-2

Regards,

DE.

I'd really like to get some ES44AC/DCs in each of the Big Four, but then I'd have to buy modern rolling stock too.

Glad I'm not the only one with this disease! I really need to post my inventory. Last time I counted it was well north of 200. Mostly critters, doodlebugs and first generation diesels with a little steam and other stuff I just like thrown in for good measure. I'm afraid to see what I come up with!

Question: How do you count m.u.'d diesel units? For example, if you have a powered F-7A and a powered F-7B with a dummy F-7A, does that count as a single locomotive? (Recall that when the FT's first came out, the unions tried to claim these were three separate locomotives, and hence there should be three crews, all paid. As a result, the railroads drawbarred the A and B units and sometimes the A-B-A, rather than having couplers between the units. The unions finally gave in.)

I never figured that one out. I usually count them separately if I purchased them separately. For example the Precision Craft FABs came as a set and there is a wire that connects the motor and speaker in the B unit to the decoder in the A. So the B cannot be used independently, therefore it is 1 locomotive. Likewise the original Stewart FT AB sets had a plastic draw bar between the units so they had to be "coupled" together". On the other hand a set of Athearn Blue Box units whether they are powered or dummy can be used coupled at will to each other or other units independently of each other so they are each counted separately.

Also since this thread came back up again I'll add almost my newest aquisition. I got a D&RGW K-27 for Christmas Tree duty. This year are community is having a "Old Fashion Country Christmas". Everyone is opening their homes for the community to come and look at the christmas decorations. We are setting up our Christmas Forest again. Each tree has to have its own train. Might even set up the modular units and have just a train exhibit.

I just bought a Bachmann alco 2-6-0 with sound and dcc for the Pennsylvania railroad. I liked the looks and fell in love with the sounds the locomotive made when it was demonstrated to me.

Well most of these rosters my tiny list to shame! I've got a proto milw gp30, proto milw gp9 and 2 Walters gp9m units. Granted these will be fazed out since they're all probably 10 years old now. I'm planning on going dcc with my new layout and getting an Athearn milw rd geep and possibly 2 f7a units (I've got a small layout and have no need for lots of power).
There are also a few Santa Fe units but I can't remember what they are off the top of my head. Those are currently on loan to my dad for his layout.
