So I'm back a few hours later with a question do you guys think the yard should be on cork or not

Generally yards, and spurs were at a lower level than the mains. So most guys will let the yards sit on the baseboard without any kind of roadbed under it, unless they place it on a solid piece of cork, that's thinner than the regular roadbed. Sidings are also sometimes at a lower level than the main as well, but not always.
