Morning everyone!
55 to start with - headed towards 77 later on with a clear, calm sky.
Guys: Thanks for all the encouragement. It's not the surgery that bothers me - it's the fact that over the last 2 years and 3 months that I have three major surgeries and one less major (hernia) just about a complete rebuild with 10 different doctors/specialists, close to 8,000 miles, four colonoscopy’s, four CT scans, one MRI, that drinking liquid scan (horrible), a total of 20 days hospital, and despite probably 95% of it being covered - it's still getting to be a lot of expense plus just the aggravation of constant interruptions of life in the scheduling of all the appointments.
I guess that to sum it all up - It's just not the way that I had hoped to spend the latter part of my life and YES, YES, and YES - I am grateful and thankful for my past good health, but I seem to be paying for it now. I had much rather be on the doggie rescue trail and helping others in need than trying to rescue myself!
I’m just jabbering, guys – Really – Thanks for the encouragement. Now, If they would quit mentioning the 5% factor – I am afraid that I may fall into that rabbit hole! – after all: How many times can you cheat the guy with the pitchfork?

Willie - The doctor who told me not to worry was the neurosurgeon who looked at the aneurism that was discovered in my brain and was determined to have calcified over. This is a completely different specialist and department. BTW – That is a GREAT story about the A/C … made me laugh out loud. I also am familiar with the spider stick being an “in the woods before daybreak” squirrel and deer hunter growing up. We used to have those big black/yellow ones around the house – pretty, but scary to me as a youngster. Out here we only seem to have the Black Widows and an occasional Tarantula.

GREAT photo, Chet! Just noticed the difference in the two RS units. Also picked up on the “Stupidbaker” at the grade crossing. That ‘Cotton Belt’ boxcar is a long way from home on your RR – belongs back in Arkansas lol.

Louis, Thank You for the kind thoughts, and you are correct. That is a GREAT capture on the 3-Rail! Good looking locomotive, brand new, and a steal of a price.

Curt – I understand where Phil is. It is too bad that he feels the way he does, but he thinks he is a drag and an embarrassment to be with. I am sure that it is not so, but never the less, that is his feelings.

GO Cubs!
GO Angels!

Afternoon All,

Continued to work on the building kit. It sure seems to be slow going but I will get there. The next couple of days will probably be spent painting doors and window frames...Ugh! Tomorrow hopefully I will see Phil.

While I was typing this Phil's wife called me with a couple of questions about his latest tests (terminology). The bottom line is everything has come back with no issues and he has gained some weight in the last month..so good news.

Sherrel- Sorry to hear of your issue. I agree with the others, but it is your decision and I am sure everyone here will support you whatever you decide.

Gary P- I actually have a bad memory of the band. Back in 1979 I was living in a trailer in SC. Our next door neighbor would turn his radio as loud as it would go whenever the band came on which was frequent back then.

Louis- Congrats on the new loco. The most ebay bucks I have earned at one time was like $6.

Chet- Nice pic.

Dave- Good to see you in the forum.

I hope everyone has a good night.

I had 9 minutes of free time before I have to get ready for baseball. made one personal phone call, left a message and now I am trying to catch up on here. Aint gonna happen! :)

Thanks guys for the kind remarks about my new Lionel locomotive. It would not be the first thing I bought on eBay claiming to be "new" or mint, I'll let you know when I get it.

Phil the most eBay bucks I have had was $58 and change, but usually its less than $10. I'm glad to see they are paying off for under $5 again. I had $2.68 this time and they made a sale that would not have happened otherwise. Smart move eBay, thanks for inspiring me to look.

Have a great day Everybody!

Found something really interesting this weekend, the train schedule for Great Northern, from 1912. Also, a Northern Pacific from 1920. Honestly, they were in some stuff my great uncle (deceased) was saving.

They are in "like new" condition, I had to do a doubletake on the dates.

Funny thing, that is the time era for my new railroad, also the cities listed run through those along my route. Tomorrow I will bring a couple pic's

No, haven't heard from Erik.
I've been tryin to get an appointment to see my provider at the VA now for the past week. I've called there for an appointment three times now and the woman who answered said they were all busy and someone would call me back. Nobody has called me back yet.

Good Morning All. 60° and mostly cloudy this morning. Boy, it sure hasn't been real busy here in the Coffee Shop the last two days. Where are the "night owls"? Twelve hours elapsed between Beady's visit yesterday and Ken's opening this morning.
Finished mulching the entire garden yesterday and spent more quality time on the tractor mowing parts of the yard.
During my ongoing organizational efforts in the train shed, I also found several packages of brake hoses that I had put off installing whenever. At least I wrote the name & number on the packages so I knew where to put them. Took care of that so I don't have to find them again. I did finish painting two of the motorcycles that I found earlier, but forgot to take a picture.

Gary P - Regarding the musicians...How true that is. I always remember Mick Jagger and Roger Daltry running around on stage back in the 60's, doing antics that would break my body even back then. Today, it can best be described as a "saunter"! Shame about J. Geils though, I only saw them live once...the classic line-up with Peter Wolf and Magic Dick...well actually it was the only lineup over the years.
Louis - Great that your wife could visit her mom in the home country. Let's all hope that everything goes safely.
Chet - Like you, I would rather drive than fly. While my last plane trip (in 2013) was mostly uneventful, my flight was delayed in Philadelphia for several hours while they waited for a plane to take us to Albany.
Sherrel - Ah, yes. The very large black and yellow spiders. I have many of them around here, but fortunately they find a place and stay put their entire lives - one season.
Curt - Thanks for the good update on Phil. I just started to receive a few E-Mails from him again.
Dave - Sounds like a great find.

Everybody have a great day.

Willie

Good morning all. 61 and sunny in SW MO. Will hit upper 70's today. Next couple of days will be nice, then rain for about 3 days. - Sigh -

Nothing much from the train room. Just trying to get a couple of TOs in place and wired for remote control and then I can lay some serious runs of track.

So, for now - see ya later. Have a good day everyone.

Good morning all, 45 and cloudy...as promised, the train schedules from 1912 and 1920:

Notice the Northern Pacific features "Electric Automatic Block Signals". In case you can't read it, this was in 1920. Must have been quite an innovation at the time.

We lived along this line from 1958, my parents still owning a home along a section that now is a trail.

Good morning. 42 degrees with clear skies. Should get up to the low 60's again today.

Tried texting Eric a few times and haven received a response. He usually does respond. Worried about him.

Dave - Nice finding those old schedules.

Went to the tire shop yesterday to change from winter tires to all seasons. The MRL tracks are right behind the tire shop. The rails were busy and I did miss a few trains, but did finally catch the locomotives of this coal train. It was the third coal train to pass in 15 minutes. This one only had two locomotives so I am guessing that it might be the third section of the same train. The first two trains had 4 locomotives and were a lot longer, and the last was shorter with only 2 locomotives. Missed photos of the first two as the tracks are behind the shop and by the time I got outside, the power had passed. Lousy photo because I was slow getting the phone out and didn't have any time to compose the shot.

IMAG1107.jpg

A lot of rail action on these tracks, but I do prefer to go to the top of Bozeman Pass with a real camera instead of a phone camera.

Later.

45 and hazy.

Mom is due to move to a rehab facility today. We're going to introduce her 12(?)-year-old female cat to our two 7(?)-year-old males tomorrow or Sunday; Mom's place is 1/2 - hour from both us and my brother, and it'll be easier on everybody if this works.

Found a good paper-model site that's mrr-scale specific: Fiddlersgreen.net. Their models are HO and N, but can be scaled for other sizes. There's a crap load of unique buildings and airplanes (only the planes that come with the hangar are n scale -the others are larger), with links to backdrops. It's the only place I've found that has a small aircraft hangar.

One other thing:

Well...

I just had two separate customers come up to me, while I was in the middle of performing a new owner orientation, and tell me they were told to find me to answer their questions, since all I ever do is stand around and talk.
I referred them to the sales manager.

Terry - I'm tellin' ya, man - that book I recommended a few days ago - that's the way to go with this guy!!

Good Morning - It's 58 and partly sunny - supposed to only be 71 today.
Cubs lost,
Angels lost,
Punt .....

Afternoon All,

Went up to Jon's today and met up with Phil. We all had a great time. After getting home I hooked up the SPST switches on the yard lights and they work correctly now. After that I painted all the doors and windows for the building kit with the first coat of paint.

I hope Eric is doing OK. It's worrying not to hear from him.

VA Ken- Good luck with the VA.

Willie- My last flight was 1995 when I flew to FL from HI after I retired.

Dave- Very Cool.

Chet- At least you had entertainment at the tire place.

I hope everyone has a good night.
