Same Ol' Buzzard
I know that these were used to dispense oil and other lubricants in days of yore, and were used in farm country around here well into the 80's, but what are they called? And what color should they be?
Those are colloquially known as 'framises....' The rhuedamaker' is the top dispenser, which screws into & draws metered fluids from the 'gizzmo' below.but what are they called?
if it makes any difference, they were usually labeled and colored, for a particular brand and weight of oil, mine just happened to be all red ..
in the above photo, thats a normal zerk [or grease fitting], and a flat face is just that, flat instead of roundedOK, I'll bite, wazza zerk? An' wazza diff between a flat face zerk an'a normal zerk? A normal zerk didn' fall out'f a tree an' lan' on it's face?
We call them both. Kinda like pop and soda depends on the part of the country your in.Down here in the Antipodes, we call them a grease nipple, but in future, in order to prevent Beady getting over excited, I'll refer to them as zerks. (now I've gorn an' dunnit?)
