It's done with a roller, it was some sort of card sheets at lowes. Pretty thin but durable and flexible. I painted it a "blue vault" color. It was the closest thing they had to a sky blue.
Got some more done, this is hard work and takes time when you already have the layout built and anchored to the wall. Note to self - always do backdrops early in the future before butting the layout up against the wall.
Originally I had left a quarter inch between the layout and the wall using block spacers so I could run the cardboard strips down the back of the layout when building the mountains. That came in handy for my backdrop design.....
Once painted I glued on 24 inch strips of wood about every 12-15 inches leaving 4 inches of overhang to be flush with the bottom of the benchwork....
First section in and mounted. I added blocks on the bottom of the benchwork so the wood strips would be flush with the bottom of it and then secured in place once level with wood screws into the strips. I also added a joiner that will be glued to both backs of each backdrop section to keep them more secure and present a nice seam.....
Second section in, joined and secured. Had to go back and make some minor adjustments to the first and level both together. These two are done once they've set.
Started cutting more strips for the back of the next section and ran out of wood. I had only bought a couple pieces initially to make sure my design worked first.... Time to get more wood!
Looks much better so far, preview shot minus those hideous white garage walls....
