LOUIS - That is the best race that I have ever seen - Even the Spousal Unit has watched it plus the other pic that you put up several times. The entire Family here used to "have a day at the horse races".
There would be 40-50 each year for the afternoon. Sad that as many have passed and the remainder have aged so much that we quit a few years back. That was back when "Cigar" was in the
Winners Circle.
I'll give you a STAR for posting that ..

I've never seen a closer race. Brian Hernandez, Mystik Dan's Jockey, had a great ride! I don't think Mystik Dan was the fastest horse last Saturday, but by keeping to the rail he ran the shortest distance. It was a thrilling race to watch!

My late cousin David and I used to cut school and go to Pimlico. I've never been much of a gambler. I never took more than fifty dollars with me, and I never came home broke. The attraction for me was the horses. Going during the week allowed us to get up close to see the horses in the paddock. We would watch the races from the outside rail. It was an amazing sight to see!

I'm glad you enjoyed it and thanks for sharing some family history with me, I enjoyed that.

Did you know Cigar was a Maryland bred horse?

Welp... back from the professional audiologist. The dude with the AuD degree, and a Masters degree as well. His father started in the same biz 50 years or so ago... That doesn't make them good... but it gave me enough info to understand the difference between the professional Hearing Instrument Specialists that are at my local Costco (I checked the licenses posted at their clinics, all are HIS, not AuDs).
the "Doc" and I discussed my hearing history, when the tinnitus started, when it ramped up, and triggers that I might have.

Yes, he wants to sell me hearing aids, but as he said, the ones I have still work. Why do I need new ones?

The tech. The Starkey brand Genesis AI 16s come with both white noise generators built in, and a tinnitus masking tech:

Other brands have similar stuff. I had hoped the Jabras I just got at Costco had similar tech. But, not yet....

Good Evening All. Not a good day today for me. Yes I was able to start mowing finally, but 20 minutes into it, I got the tractor hopelessly stuck in an unexpected soft spot. No pictures of the tractor itself, but here's the RUTS that the front wheels made.

Yes, over 6" deep. It took over an hour to extricate it, as absolutely none of my neighbors were home today to assist. Back wheels were on semi-solid ground but just kept spinning.

Success finally came after lunch and a nap and then I was able to continue mowing for about 90 minutes before calling it a day.
Just an example of the soft ground that I have to deal with every time it gets saturated. It's because I have 9' of topsoil before getting to subsoil, a result of slow erosion over the last 1000 years or so. I know the depth because that's how far down we went when digging the adjacent pond to get subsoil to line the dam.

I get very few "candidate" calls/texts so I haven't bothered to sign up for it.

The infamous do not call list, and the sister do not knock lists, exempt politicians campaigning for office or turning out the vote. (One who authored such laws would not include ones self in the restriction, would they?).

Currently 64° under cloudy skies the sun is supposed to break out around 2 PM with a daytime high today of 83°. I’m gonna try not to get too excited about the weather since Thursday and Friday and possibly Saturday will be rainy. Yuck.

Well howdy there internet peeps.

Thanks to it storming in the midwest like it did elsewhere, from Texas to NYC, I slept well last night. We had an uneventful storm system roll through, but areas around us got pelted. Three inch hail to the north (Garrett Indiana), and Tornados sighted all around our county. So far I'm not seeing reports of major damage in Ft Wayne.

EDIT: Kalamazoo and Portage Michigan got hit. FedEx facilty heavily damaged.

I'll take a walk in an hour or two, just to check out the neighborhood.

Tinnitus is at a 5 this morning. Got the white noise goin in the hearing aids.

Flight time at 3 should land us in Arizona weather of 85 windy degrees. No chance of rain compared to Wisconsin’s continuing rain events after 8pm and continuing on/off till Monday. Or so the guessers say…

Should be a gorgeous Northern Illinois day. The rains have vacated the area. Had another stray 15 minute thunderstorm yesterday evening that was not even predicted.
