Garry - I like it too. I was really surprised I got it so low. It went all the way to the last seconds with no bids. I won it as time expired. (I've lost several by not waiting long enough to bid.). Since I want it to be from a defunct line when it becomes a diner, I probably won't leave it in Santa Fe colors. Haven't decided on a scheme or name yet, but I have time to figure it out.

I was looking at some more RAS circus cars. That's going to take a while to build up. Some of those get very pricey. But considering I have no idea when I'll actually have enough space for a layout big enough to use them, I can add them as I can afford and find them.

Oooooooo!!!! My mainline is almost complete!!! All issues have been repaired and here hopefully tomorrow I'll have my outside loop completed. It's almost train running time. Even if it's just a loop.

Justin

Mark - What did you do, just copy and paste your post over and over? Same post for three days!

Everybody have a great day and a "Super" weekend.

Willie

I'm amazed that someone noticed that I had re-posted the same post 3 times! Willie, you da man!! Actually, I figured that traffic at this thread is so heavy that no one would even notice! Also, the weather here has been so boringly crappy that the three posts where close to the truth, anyway, excepting it got even colder. I was having fun with you all!

From Minnesota, where Super Sunday is finally over with! I understand the the Philadelphia Eagles won and that the New England Patriots dynasty might be over! Now it's just B-ball and Hockey left before Baseball starts again and warm weather is here!

Gooooood morning guys.
Got out of the train show last night about 5pm. Drove on down to near Culpeper, VA to watch the Super Bowl with some friends in the mancave. Got home about midnight and off loaded the module transport case. Wood doesn't slide to well when it's wet. That was a work out.
I'm gonna work from home till about 11AM this morning then I'll have to go into the office for a meeting with the government customer.

Good Morning All. It's 17° and mostly cloudy. Whoa! Didn't see that coming, the forecast low temperature was 29° for overnight. Anything below 25° and it is advisable for me to drip one certain faucet. Caught it just in time when I got up around 0330. Beautiful day again yesterday until about 4:00 pm when it turned much colder. Trimmed up some more firewood while it was nice. Heading out to the doctor's office for a 9:30 routine appointment today. He'll tell me to lose weight, but that's about it.
While I didn't watch any of the Stupor Bowl, I read that Philly won. That's a shame because as a former Dallas fan, I never want to see them win any games. The NFL lost my viewership about a year before the anthem protests sealed the deal for me. And I also read this morning that the Philly fans reacted to the win in their usual uncivil manner.
Later in the day, I paid a visit to the train shed. Ran trains only. Finally resolved an issue that I was aware of, but never looked into because it wasn't causing any problems. There was a distinct "clickety-clack" noise whenever a train went through a certain diverging turnout. It turned out to be two misaligned rails past the actual switch, both within gauge but one on the high side and one on the low side of the tolerance; one was also slightly higher than the other. Out came the pliers and file, and it got fixed. It had never once caused any derailment, so it was overlooked until now.

Garry - I actually have a list of the remaining cars with plastic wheels, but picking out that specific red ATSF boxcar, or that green BN boxcar is not often easy when I have 800 freight cars to look through. I just wait and pick them out when I do routine cleaning or when I spot one in a train.
Sherrel - Reading your post reminded me that one day last week, I opened two boxes of "out of era" freight cars and found over 100. I knew that they were there, but I never really knew how many there were. I suppose that I could dig out a couple of ATSF "cigar-band" painted engines and run a late 60's freight every so often.
Ken (D&J) - Slow days at a train show around here usually means more bargains at the independent dealer tables. They don't want to haul it all back home.
Curt - As an ex-roofer, I can tell you that most shingles are not straight, especially on older commercial buildings.
Jesse - I like the idea of a hobo scene. While I don't have one yet, it is in the plan, just have to figure out where. I do have four potential locations once I get to scenicking one of those areas. Heck, maybe I'll do more than one!

Everybody have a great day.

Willie

Good morning gang
33 and sunny now. Last nights rain turned onto this mornings ice, with wrecks a plenty. Yet, I followed a fellow this morning on a Harley down Rt 32. More cajones than brains I'll wager.
BBL, my boss expects me to work. Really? On a Monday?

Willie - I don't remember what era you said you model, but with that many "out of era" cars, you could build an entire hobo town. Lol.

I haven't decided just how I'm going to do mine yet either. Not even sure if it will fit into my layout right now. Even though you can do more in less space with N, I'm still only dealing with 2'x4'. Unless I can find more space.

Jesse

Willie,

Yeah, you're right about the great deals at the end of the show. I had an option to buy 47 intermodal containers or various lengths for $75. I've already got almost 500 on the layout now, but it was tempting. Found an offer for 15 Tortoise machines, (new) for $10 each. I bought those. Lots of Scale Trains locomotives with sound for just over $100. I found a NS SD40-2 that I just had to have. Now, I can't remember why.

Good morning. 28 degrees with light snow. The weather guessers have had a winter weather advisory out since last Thursday and this is the first snow we've seen. It has been in the mid to upper 40's since Thursday. Never turned the computer on over the weekend.

Saw some of the posts over the weekend on TapTalk but was quite busy. I work with the local Sheriffs Posse from time to time with search and rescue if they need an aircraft. Saturday a couple of snowmobilers were reported missing so I went to the airport, picked up an observer and we went searching and eventually found the stranded people, way far away from the Forest Service trails. We remained in the area directing ground searchers to their location and they were finally rescued. That blew Saturday. Sunday I pretty well vegged out. For some reason I have found that gravity seems to work better as you get older. I did get to run trains for a couple of hours doing a lot of switching after getting some track cleaning done. Did not watch the Super Bowl but an happy that tie underdog won.

Bruce - Sounds like you did well at the casino. When we go to Reno for the National Bowling Tournaments, we stay st the El Dorado Casino a block from the biwling stadium. I am not much of a gambler and will only put a five in the machine. If I win anything, my five goes back into my wallet along with half of the winnings. I don't know squat about most of the machines, but when lights start flashing and bells go off, I cah out and put hald of the winnings in my pocket. The last time we were ther I think I was up about $500 for the trip.

Burlington Bob - I have been a donor for well over 40 years. I think some of the parts may be wearing out now.

Ken D&J
- The modules look good. Too bad about the low turn out. Decent deal at the end usually.

Jesse - Happy that you finally scored on the dining car. Sorry to hear about the cars not being able to negotiate the tight radius curves. When I was in N scale years ago, I body mounted Kadee couplers on all of my rolling stock and locomotives.

Curt -
The roof is look good. You sure do some really nice work.

Ken in MD - Glad you solved the uncoupling problem. It will make the ops session go a lot smoother.

Here's a rail picture for today.

Chet - Thank you. I'm glad I finally (for now) have settled on a car for the diner. I'm ok with the tight radiuses for now. I'll be adding to the circus train anyway. And even with only 3 cars and one loco, it looked cluttered on my small oval. I've got a small amount left in the budget for the month, so I'm looking to probably start buying either track or couplers soon. The circus will have to wait. Going to hopefully get enough track soon to justify buying a sheet of foam. I'm also hoping to find pre assembled couplers. Until I get a dedicated work space, doing them the way I did the other day is really going to strain my ability to cut down on and eliminate my swearing. Lol

Good morning. 36 and sunny. Half hour ago, it was snowing. going to stay around 36.

I read that Philly won. That's a shame because as a former Dallas fan, I never want to see them win any games. The NFL lost my viewership about a year before the anthem protests sealed the deal for me. And I also read this morning that the Philly fans reacted to the win in their usual uncivil manner.

Willie: That's so typical of Philadelphia. Back in the early 1980s, I was working on a special project at the Girard Point Grain Elevator and Pier, in South Philadelphia, about a mile from the Stadium. I actually heard the roar of the crowd when the Phillies won their first ever World Series. Just getting to I-95 to get home was a PIA, Then I heard news broadcasts of rioting in numerous neighborhoods. Philadelphia deserves it's negative reputation, they worked hard for it and take pride in their lack of civility. I don't believe I watched a single football game all season, either college or NFL. I don't miss it either. Has nothing to do with any protests, or anything like that, I just can't relate to it any more.

Mark: See, we do pay attention!

Good morning everyone. Got down to 4 last night, up to 18 now, and will hit 35 today. A half inch of snow on the ground and with the overnight freeze, you can imagine the roads. Office announced opening a couple of hours late this morning. Passed three cars and one truck in ditches on the way in!

I'll catch up on reading the posts later. Got a dental emergency right now. Had a newly crowned tooth go ballistic on me Saturday evening. Texted the dentist and he called in antibiotics, and I'm heading in now for him to examine this thing and see what we do next. Two nights of no sleep and constant dull ache - not fun.

More later. Have a good day everyone.

Good morning America, how are ya? 16° here with a chance of about 4" of snow before morning. I HATE WINTER!!!!!

A little over a month until the train show in Springfield, IL. A good indicator that warmer weather is coming. Just hope I can keep my sanity til then!

Chet, sometimes even us old farts have some parts of value!

Howdy .

Justin .... Glad you are running trains. However, the track is close to the edge. Before you have a floor model, you should put up a barrier. Even if it is just cardboard stapled along the edge. .... Have fun.

Johnny .... I hope your dental problem is corrected soon.

Burlington Bob .... Now that is a tool I never had on my shopping list ! ... LOL

Chet .... Apparently, the track in your photo has been abandoned.

Joe .... I don't understand the rioting in Philly because the Eagles won. .... I think the city was nicer back when PRR had its HQ there.
