Cincinnati Union Station 1950 HO layout

Well let the fun begin ,
well i went from a wall shelf layout to moving the pool table and opening up a hole room . this will be modeled like there would have been a stream liner world fair for a three day weekend in June 1950 with all the top steam stream liners of all the different RR would have come in with there best for fan picks and railfan trips on your favorite one so lets get this party started . plans are done . I will be putting the C&O 490 , SP Daylight , NYC Mercury , lehigh valley John Wilkes , Hiawatha Milwaukee road , N&W J 611 and many more as i build the layout i build up the more rolling stock . So thanks for watching and hope you enjoy ..

Eastern section construction started . base is in 4" lower then the center this will be the part that goes across the Ohio river to the Covington KY side so some elevated track and bridge work on this side

Well got some work done on the Eastside of the layout .This will have both bridges that cross the ohio river and section of the raised track just south of the depot. Had to put some rail and trains on it to get the feel for the height. Open space is where the river will lay . Hope you guys are enjoying the the pic

I love it . Wood these days are far from straight and also I don't have all the dust another thing is its not going to warp over time .

I like the metal . It's straight, light and you can make I beams that will support some series weight.

Well tonight I started to lay some track just lightly tacked down to look at transition from main to sidings and to run my push engine around and feel how smooth they are so far its very nice
This is the turnouts going in to track one of C.U.T. and the post office .

Well got some trains on the rails to test also a little paint . As you can see the pink that is still showing will be the concrete platforms of union Station. Open hole will be filled with 2" pink foam for the coach yard,round house and coach shop . Be a lot of ballast and gravel . I need to find some good photos of the area for all the detailed stuff and true round house details

Had to get some trains in the terminal to test turnouts and have a little fun . It can't be all work and no play !! . Going to be building west loop frame this week.
Glad you guys are enjoying the ride with me , turntable ,roundhouse ,turnouts and track ordered. And one new steamliner on its way ..surprise coming!! Can't wait

Well started the framing on the west wing . This is the coal mining side of the layout bench is rising at 1/4 per for slope up in to the mountains .

Decking going down . A little each night and we have all the framing done and base laid hope to be laying cork this weekend . Trying to keep a good time line true to the build .
