What's the best method to change an HO headlight's lens from clear to red? I read somewhere to use food coloring??

What's the best method to change an HO headlight's lens from clear to red? I read somewhere to use food coloring??

Stained Glass paint works better (but more expensive of course). Food coloring has a greater chance of being or becoming cloudy.

For colored lenses, I've always used Tamiya clear colored paint. It's not the cheapest solution, but you get consistent color. The clear red is TS74.
