Sorry, a bit late here for Front End Friday. This is one of 2 (two) old Athearn Blue Box F units that I re-painted, detailed and decaled for my San Francisco Chief. I did this work almost 25 years ago but have not run them but maybe 2 or 3 times. Back then the paint I used was Floquil with airbrush. That was super paint and I wish it was still in business. The decals were from Microscale. I've had great luck with them. I upgraded this unit with a new motor, trucks, wheels, and added a Soundtrax decoder. I enjoy painting, adding details and applying decals. More units to come in the Friday's ahead. JRP

I’d have never guessed Blue Box, great work!
I find myself running my old “coffee grinders” more and more and my expensive detailed sound equipped locos less these days.

I would hope to make my Proto 1000 SF DL 109 locos as detailed and nice looking as your older Athearn F unit
