Another foam ?

how about shaping foam, any sugestions about where to locate some tools (wrasp??) that will allow me to remove the foam. Would like to do some small culverts along the tracks in this portion of the layout that is flat.

A lot of times, an old steak knife is the best tool for shaping small elements like drainage ditches and small streams. For real big work, the Staley Surform tools shown at http://www.stanleytools.com/default.asp?TYPE=CATEGORY&CATEGORY=SURFORM+TOOLS+AND+BLADES are just what you want. I use the shaver and the 21-297 rasp for shaping large areas of foam and the combination is about all you need.

if you use the surform, have a vacuum cleaner nearby. i prefer a knife as Jim mentioned

I like the surform for shaping and contouring the foam, and running a vacuum is a must! I use a long olfa blade to cut with, or a hacksaw blade with fine teeth.
Another thing that is handy is rubbing a bounce sheet on yourself to keep the beads from sticking to you.
