Back when I did N scale, I used an Atlas/Kato GP30 and an Atlas GP40-2 as a mother/slug set. Making the slug was absurdly easy, I simply cut and filed off all the radiator fans and most of the long hood doors on the GP30, and filled in any gaps with squadron green putty. I got lazy, and painted both engines in the then-current stealth paint.
