Weathering Kato Track

I've just begun my research on building an "n" scale layout. I'm not lazy, and I'm pretty handy but I'm not sure i have the time to lay my own rail. I have experience from long ago with HO scale and flex track. The guy at the LHS suggested Kato track as a way to get the layout running. I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice on pros and cons or if anyone has seen or has weathered or ballasted over the Kato track for a more realistic look. Pictures would be helpful if you have any.

Thanks,

Bob Ellis, known on the forums as "PowerSteamGuy1790," has built a beautiful layout, the JJJ&E, which uses ballasted and weathered Unitrack.

His layout blog:

If you perform a Google search for "PowerSteamGuy1790" you will find plenty more information about his fine layout.
