Tried weathering 😅

I gave it a try, I think it’s pretty good but I’ll need advice from you guys

I'm by far not an expert, but it looks good to me.

Maybe rust up the wheel faces some.

looks great! only advice i have is to look at photos of trains and see what spots tend to rust first. for example on the roof the pattern of your rust looks just a bit too even to be natural

Great job, however I think I would have a word with the railroad mechanical department about maintaining your rolling stock. Of course, with times hard, they may not want to do much repainting. (Just kidding. Looks excellent!)

I just dabbled some paint on with a sponge and wiped away excess with a cloth in the direction of the roof down

Try to add some under spray of mud and dirt, the best way to do this is with an airbrush or spray paint. The easiest way to do it without is to wet down acrylic paint and paint it onto the model then wipe away top to bottom.

Great…keep it up, it gets easier the more cars you do…
I started out mostly airbrush weathering but now it’s just one component
Artists oils are your friend…very economical
Vallejo acrylics are excellent…German Dark Brown is an excellent rusty metal colour for chips and scratches..
Pigments..paint pens..so many options

What type of paint did you use?

I would do a pin wash on the panel lines and the door to make them pop a little more.

It looks good.

No I learned by watching Boomer Diorama, SoCal Scale Models, and The Bennet Model Railroad

I found the use washes worked best for me. I like Tamiya panel liner and Vallejo washes.
