Thomas model project: Spray or brush?

As of recently I decided to spray paint my hornby Thomas with Tamyia french blue with white Mr hobby surface 1000 and Tamyia white primer to ensure that the blue is vibrant. Now as for a further notion, I am wondering if I should spray the smoke box black, or just hand paint all of the black parts on the cab and the body. Same deal with the footplate on the body shell. Spray paint or hand paint? For while the buffers can be easily painted with spray paint, the same can not be said for the bufferbeam and footplate on the shell. Espically with it being the shell of a Hornby thomas where the footplate is molded onto the body. So Brush paint for the black and red? Or Spray paint. And should the replies be of brush paint, which red should I use? For I'm hoping to find a glossy match to Tamyia's TS-49, bright red, which is the same red I used on the buffer housings.
