A loco of mine with a TCS KAT42 decoder in it has developed an odd habit. Randomly it will be chugging along just fine and then it will slow right down to roughly about speed step 1 or 2. If you adjust the speed on the cab by just one notch, then i jumps back to the proper speed. Now, as it happens, I have a sound decoder connected to this loco as well (in the tender- it's a steamer), so it's pretty obvious when it sounds like it is chuffing at a good pace and not moving very fast.
When this started happening, a few other oddities manifested as well. I had a fire box light that started being on solid instead of flickering and, as I had done some function mapping on that particular light, it would come on when I blew the whistle, too. Resetting the CV's associated with the firebox light fixed that problem, but the speed thing is still there. What other CV's should I check? I have a problem with my programming track, so a full reset is kind of out of the question, sadly...
