Sound without DCC

I am old school using all old school DC locomotives just getting back into the game.. I dont foresee myself ever converting everything over to DCC BUT, I love the sounds available via DCC. Is there an option available with a speaker/device of some sort that could be camouflaged into my layout that when connected to my power pack would make the sound of a locomotive running etc?

Kato offers something called a soundbox, which gives DC sound using a cartridge with the sounds loaded on it.

You could buy old Broadway Limited BlueLine locos. They are DC locos with sound. You will have to buy their "Broadway Limited BLI-1011 DC Master Analog Control Module" if you want to be able to control their sounds. For that matter, any modern DCC Sound loco will run on a DC layout but you will not be able to control the sounds out of it and you have to move the throttle to near max since it draws more power than a regular DC loco.

Some newer models with sound decoders like Soundtraxx will work on a DC layout, but you don't get all the sounds, only some.
