Good Afternoon y'all. Happy Friday, and Happy October. Today is a beautiful day at the Jersey Shore, sunny with a high in the mid 70s.

Most of our time today has been consumed by affairs related to my mother - in - law, and the need to find her a new residence at an assisted living facility. So, we toured this facility in Ocean Grove, old, but adequate, with a terrific view. She won't like it, but then she hasn't liked a single place where we have had her. (She thinks she's a Duchess or something). Later, we look at a place in Jackson, where there is a great view of County Line Road, and a corn field...newer, more expensive, but not Palatial. She won't like that one either... Next month, it will be six years of her demanding nonsense.... On the Bright side, we cruised down Ocean Avenue, from Ocean grove to Spring Lake, then went home via Sea Girt.

If I get to the railroad, at all today, It will be in the evening...

Work train at N.Phila 09-30-1967 - Hal Smith.jpg

Hal Smith photo, of a work train passing through North Philadelphia Station in September 1967. Three crawler cranes, and three gondolas for debris. The symbol for this job was MW 101, which reported at the East End of Mantua Yard, for the train crew, and 46th St Engine House for the Engine Crew. This train was used to clear drainage ditches adjacent to the Main Lines East, West and South radiating out of Philadelphia. Depending where the work was scheduled on a given day, the crew could have come from either the Maryland Division, Harrisburg Division, or Philadelphia Terminal Division.

Spoke to my wife from the recovery room. She thinks that the surgery was successful to remove the old implanted knee joint, but she was really too drugged out to be real lucid. They will move her to a regular room soon where the doctor will see her and tell her more. She doesn't want me or any other family members there to see her because the hospital is filled with Covid patients, although there are no visitor restrictions and no Covid patients on the floor that she's going to. We'll play it by ear for now. Awaiting a follow-up call this afternoon.
Thanks for all of the prayers and well wishes.

Afternoon All,

The shower is grouted and the plumber comes tomorrow at 0800. The exterior pony wall (not affected by water) should be complete by Wednesday. The problem right now is it appears that the separate hand wand and tubing weren't packed in the shower hardware. The company is going to replace it but I really wanted Dad to be able to take showers downstairs the way he wanted to (without waiting). Tomorrow the wife and daughter are doing the estate sale in the other house Saturday and Sunday.

Hughie- Nice layout shot.

Christian- Nice scenery photos.

Jaz- Good luck to you and your wife.

Joe- I really feel your pain. Hang in there. Nice Pennsy work train photo.

Willie- Very good news.

I hope everyone has a good night.

It's been a while since I've visited here. Summer is over and it's time to get back to the trains. Awh Yes, the weather! Here in central Minnesota, the drought continues although chance for rain today and tomorrow, the rest of the 10 day forecast shows Mostly Sunny and Partly Cloudy with highs in the low 70s. Looks very nice. Flo, a couple of English Muffins with Peanut Butter and O.J. for me today, Thanks!

Greetings Ash Pit - always nice to see another 'sotan here. Central Minn - - I was 6 years north of Baxter and west of Nisswa. Now I live in New Hope, a NW suburb of the cities near Plymouth. We got rain today, hope you did too.

Willie sounds like it's going well with the Mrs......good news. I second that I too... I do NOT like being anywhere near the hospital or white coats at all! Heeebie jeeebies.....

Flo......how creative....ya changed the booths and tables to coffins for the Count......Dracuuuuula! Ah ah ah aaaaaaaa......nice touch.

Hope ya'll have a good weekend......I will be out in the da woods looking for Bambi's cousin tomorrow mornin' only sound that will matter is the.....thwack! It won't take long to tag out where I am going...... It's been chillin' down to cooler weather. I took today off as a sick day as I spent 1/2 the day in the dentist chair for my yearly check up as I didn't go last year due to the COVID crap. No cavities but have an issue with one tooth as it was disturbed with a wedge peice of plaque between the gums for sometime so doc prescribed antibiotics for 7 days as it created a fester etc. He cleaned it up but I was worried about an infection as he was too. I go back next Thursday and then Nov 12th for another follow-up and full blown clean and whiting of the chompers.

I finally got my flex track in on Tuesday this past week whoo hoo! I will be ready to start laying track in a few weeks. I have to finish up outside 1st and transition to ready for winter mode. I may try to get the upper shelf installed and the valance now that the LEDs are installed and I cleaned up the wire situation.

I am gonna go see that movie Venom with my nephew this evening lol should be fun.

I will post my other arrival of a locomotive that finally came in.....so very pleased with it. It will be on JR's UPRR thread.

Peace and have a good & safe weekend everyone!

Greetings all!

Made the golf date. The passing 0800 shower turned into drizzle and then a light but steady and aggravating rain from the tee of #2 thru the green of #6. Plus warm and sticky humid. Not at all what 01 Oct in Minnesota should be. Golf was overall not bad - shot 92 which is a good score for me.

Went to late lunch with the wife and had a huge plate of nachos at Lucky 13 in Plymouth washed down by a big Bell's Two Hearted, one of my fav beers. Now she is off to her woman's retreat and I plan to dive into the train room to finish the 16VDC and 12VDC wiring to power up the electromagnets and controls for the Kadee uncouplers. Hope later tonight or tomorrow to post the results of that evolution and testing.

Heal fast Jaz and Jaz-other! Prayers to Mrs SFWillie. - - - - Steve J

Good morning all! 64 degrees, heading up to 76 and rainy later. Gotta get ready for work soon. The dog decided she needed 2/3 of the couch this morning, so I'm squished into one end so as not to disturb her royal highness.
The store I work in has CSX tracks behind it with lots of traffic, but I generally only get to hear them going by. Every once in a while, I get to go outside for one reason or another and always take a little extra time when possible to watch a train. Hoping the weather is fit and I get to go out for a little train spotting today. This one ran behind the store a while back and a friend let me know it was coming. I told my supervisor I was going outside for my break and caught this video on a very windy day -- CSX Honoring Law Enforcement Locomotive 3194 enters the scene at 1:48 in the video.
Hope you all have a great day!
Ken

Hello Fellow modelers !
As usual, we walked ours 7.5 miles with the dogs. They are very happy and so are we. Hot chocolates and brioche slices for a light meal. A few photos of our countryside. They started to harvest the corn. Hope you all will have a great day !

I also committed a few crimes in Gn15. Have fun !
What's Gn15 ? Gn15 is an exciting scale for smaller projects with quirky or unusual engines and wagon. Gn15 is a combination of garden railway which is G scale (1:22.5) running on OO gauge track. The 15 in the Gn15 is the width of the prototype track in inches.

Good Morning Everyone. Foggy and 70°, looks like the last day of the forecasted 5-day thunderstorm event is going to be just as much of a dud as the first four. 0.4" over four days just didn't do the landscape any good. Looks like the high today as well as the next five days will be in the mid-80's, kind of perfect for outdoor chores that I have a whole lot of.
Wife is fine but bored. It appears that the hospital visit is going to last longer than anticipated, partly due to the fact that many of the specialists, doctors and therapy personnel, don't work on weekends; and partly due to wanting to make sure that they are going in the right direction regarding the infection which still hasn't been identified. May be there until Wednesday! Personally I think it's just a way for the hospital to increase revenue from folks like us who have both Medicare and supplemental insurance, which means that the bills will be paid. Her doctor told us last week that the hospital was self-limiting to two elective surgeries a day, when they used to do a dozen or so. He also mentioned that getting a spot wasn't hard since most other potential patients are postponing elective surgery. Wife's was the only one scheduled for Friday. I'll be headed that way later this morning with shampoo, snacks and most importantly, Caffeine-Free Diet Coke with some lemon wedges. Hospital only has Diet Pepsi! I will also meet my oldest daughter there so she can give me some additional pillows for the couch for wife's return home. Meanwhile I easily located the walker and the toilet seat riser, but I have been unable to locate the cane. I cannot imagine why it wouldn't have been with the other stuff. I know that they are cheap and readily available, but this one once belonged to my grandfather and dates back to the 50's. She also really liked it.

I can't imagine where to start the thanks for all of the recent likes, comments and well wishes lately, so thank you one and all for them.

Chicken-fried steak, southern cream gravy and grits for breakfast this morning Flo. Top it off with a large OJ.

Most of my time out in the train shed in the last two days has been detailing the many small parts for the Ramones Salvage structure. As I may have posted, there are over 80 castings altogether, although some are roof and building details. I am working in small batches so I don't feel overwhelmed. Here are a few in progress pictures taken along the way.
First, a shot of the labels that will be used on many of the boxes. Pay no attention to that shadow. There's five sets of these 22 labels making 110 altogether. Should be enough.

And the as of now unfinished trash piles.

While I was priming parts, I also did all of the loading dock parts, stairs and ramps.

Basically just another future step out of the way. These will get a coat of Polly Scale Aged Concrete which I will probably just brush-paint instead of setting up the airbrush.

Christian - I love your pictures of the French countryside that you are posting. Have you taken any of farm buildings, cottages or business establishments that you can post? I know that it's not the same country, but I once spent two weeks in Austria back in the 80's , and their structures were absolutely phenomenal. It's too bad for me that digital cameras weren't around then.
Tom O - Regarding dining room tables, we are still using one that I built in 1976, 45 years ago. I made it from scrap wood that was salvaged from crates that were used to ship patio door glass in. Perfectly straight #1 grade 2" x 12" x 84" boards. It was unbelievable at the time how much lumber we tossed into the landfill at the time.
Any in progress pictures of the slot car track? I haven't seen one since the 60's.
Hughie - I like your scenes.

I have a lot more comments to make, but I'm running out of time as my daughter just called, so I need to get it together to meet her. I will try to return later today, or just wait until tomorrow.

Everybody have a great day. Stay safe and enjoy the weekend.
