Good morning. It's raining and 35.
One package managed to find its way to my house yesterday. Strangely enough, it was supposed to be here yesterday. My Alaska package is still in limbo, it was in Columbia, SC, then disappeared again. Another package made its way to my local Post Office, then was sent back out to somewhere. Another one shows "picked up" nearly ten days ago, and hasn't been seen since. Other people in other forums, as well as the book of faces have been relating similar stories.

Amazing how the PO had no problem a month ago with the increase in mail, but December comes along and now what they been doing for years they can't handle it.I have 2 in limbo one in PA. and one in Ill.

Good morning......Coffee Flo,it was a late one yesterday.

Good Morning America.

Beautiful sunrise even without clouds. Meanwhile it's clear and 37° here in North Central Texas.

Morning Everyone. We are starting at a cool 35 today, expecting 78 later on - still not a cloud anywhere! The sun is not quite ready to wake up, but it is starting to be light out.

MIKEY - That is a neat layout - the detail on the buildings id outstanding.

I need coffee! The pups have me up before i wanted too!

Morning!
A warm, dark morning at 32°. The threat of rain and fairly high winds is upon us this morning. It's still dark outside right now at 7:30am, and the dawn's not coming until 9:00. Hard to say at this point, if it's going to be a nice Sunday, or a wet, gloomy one. - The wind is supposed to blow in some sunshine later in the afternoon.
Think I'll just have coffee and toast this morning; I want to get into the basement and do some modeling. The plan today is work on the new sidewalk and continue with the Cafe' building. The oil paint I used on the Cafe's exterior should be cured by now.

Nice sunrise, Willie. You are closer to the equator than us, so your sunrise comes a bit earlier. I'm wondering if the old poem about sailors take warn will have any merit in your case, considering it looks like you have a red sky this morning.

Quite a few wonderful layout and other photos posted yesterday. Thank you all!

The only worth-while photos I have this morning is taken from my files. The photos were snapped earlier this year at the CN staging area, just outside of town.

The flatcars are to be used for pipeline loads. I took these photos as I wanted some flatcar detail in my files.

Hope you like those photos, as taking them is what I like to do when I go on long walks. I always carry a camera on my walks. Actually, I prefer walking over driving; I can walk great distances if I got time, and it keeps me healthy.

Anyway, I had better get to it! Have a great Sunday, everyone.
May as well model something; the churches are closed during lockdown.

Good morning...Forth Sunday of Advent....tomorrow is the Winter Solstice...after today, 11 days left in 2020....30° with light snow falling.

Willie: Brilliant Texas Sunrise.

Ken: Thank you for the link.

Terry: The stuff we mailed on the 14th, arrived before the stuff we mailed on the 4th. One outstanding package has been in Fayetteville, NC for almost a week.

Spent quite sometime on the layout yesterday, will probably do the same today. Dropped more cinder ballast, and added more underbrush. Now I have to build the wooden boxcar, and age it.

ASEA - EMD experimental motor running Eastward on the Frankford Curve. Bill Strassner photo. By this time, Conrail was going through the motions, but had already decided to completely dieselize.

Eastbound Van Train at Shore (Philadelphia). Bill Strassner photo. Bill was a Towerman, so many of his photos include towers.

Eastbound long haul behind E-60 departs Philadelphia on # 2 Track. Note the weeds and brush along #1 Station track, and the service road. Back then -1976-1977, #1 station was used to store Conrail Office Cars, and PVs. Later in life, #1 was used for Mail, Baggage, and Express.

Howdy ......

Joe .... Your grade crossing looks good. .... Interesting photos of COnRail and Amtrak.

Chet .... Thanks for commenting on my city scene. Your layout photos look great.

James .... It looks cold there.

Guy ..... I see "nail-able steel" as the deck on the flat cars. A few left over nails are in the picture.

Cheers.

My wife has been tracking a business envelope with a tracking number that left Mansfield Texas on Dec 9th. Last it popped up on the tracking grid was Denver on the 16th. I want to barf every time that automatic ad comes up about our "US Postal" heros.
And we were to rely on them for election ballots.

Good morning coffee drinkers......another round on me...late comers too......👍
Good grief, miss a day at the coffee shop & see how far that puts ya behind! 😁
Pleasurable catching up though.........
Thank you all for the likes on my last post....Nice!
Flo...a stack of the butter milk hotcakes with maple syrup, half dozen of the sausage links & keep the deer camp coffee come'n please....
It goes with out saying, but I'm going to say it anyway, terrific photo's of everything that was posted the last few days.
Nice to see new people here in the coffee shop..o_O...er uhh, newer than me! lol
I had seen this car at Tulelake on a spur track of the UP's Modoc Northern line for around a couple of years. Then I see it's being readied for transport on a truck, so I figured I better get a picture of it. It took those guys about two weeks to get it mounted on tires for transport, and its been at this state that I photographed it (yesterday,) also about two weeks. Were it's going I have no idea.
Any body give any info on this car? Age? My guess is something like an RPO car, since it doesn't look like a passenger car....end of my knowledge!

Found the "trucks" on a trailer about three blocks down the road from the car.
They must be looking for more tie down straps is the reason they're still here...one of those would make one hell of a hood ornament for someone if it came off the trailer going down the road! 😨

WISHING EVERYBODY GOOD HEALTH----STAY SAFE!

Good Morning again Everyone. Cold front late yesterday was not the blustery one that was forecast, but a mild one with winds under 7 mph. Yesterday was a beautiful day and today will be a bit warmer; tomorrow it is expected to be back in the 70's. The forecast for Christmas day is clear and 60°, my kind of Christmas. Y'all can keep your snow!;)
The garden dried out enough by yesterday for me to hoe much of it and rid it of various winter-growing weeds. I am ready to plant although it's about a month too early.

Poached eggs and a couple of slabs of Taylor Ham for me this morning Francine.

Thanks for the likes and comments regarding my progress yesterday; Phil, Sherrel, Luke, Garry, Tom, Tom O, Justin, Hughie, Karl, Rick, Curt, Chet, Ken, James, Jerry.

Somewhat busy day outdoors yesterday limited my time in the train shed. I mentioned yesterday about building some tables for the Pizzeria garden. I had made some before for a different scene and decided to make some additional ones for here.
So here is my template.
IMG_5307.JPG

I no longer have any scale 2" x 12" styrene to make the bench seats from, so I am substituting scale 2" x 6" instead.
Here are all of the parts that I cut out for six tables/benches yesterday.
IMG_5308.JPG

My eyes got crossed at this point so I popped the top on a Heineken and ran trains for the rest of my time out there. I still need to trim the angles on the legs in the bottom of the photo which is next up.

Joe - Static grass is one thing that I never have tried on my layout. I am looking forward to see what you can do with it. Some modelers on other forums seem to use the applicator rather easily, but the only person here that has posted has been Ken.
Grade crossing looks good.
Ken - Prayers for your sister's health.
Guy - I never tried to make sidewalks out of balsa wood. I (and many others here) have used cheapo plastic "For Sale" signs available at most home improvement centers.
Tom O - Congratulations on making it through 18 years in the window/glass business unscathed. Fortunately most of my 43 years were in management where I no longer had to actually handle the product. I do still have one scar though.
I truly believe that indoor eating at restaurants can be done safely. Limited seating, sanitization and mask wearing by employees makes a difference. I have yet to hear or read about any "mass outbreak" at a restaurant; although I limit my pandemic news reading.
Sorry, but I like Sherrel's weather lady just a bit more.
Steve -
What does it say about me when I'm running my own YouTube channel for my trains, plus channels for my two clubs?
You like model railroading? Or you need an additional hobby! ;)
Thanks for dropping by the Coffee Shop.
Karl -
Texas to Detroit to D.C. to here in 25 days. Way to go USPS!!
They're still overwhelmed by all of the late absentee ballots.
Chet - An early congratulations on 49 years.

Wow! There was a lot to comment on yesterday, more than I actually had time for. Good to see the Coffee Shop so busy.
Everybody have a safe and wonderful Sunday.

Sherrel ... Thank you.

Terry ... Thanks ... I don’t use You Tube. So I went to my Flickr account with the video. Evidently there is no way to connect a video to this forum from Flickr.

Good morning from my section of Wisconsin. Not as gloomy as yesterday with temps in the mid30’s and no sun.

USPS, usually I am a defender but there are no excuses for the cut backs that have occurred since summer. My delivery guy the other day was telling me they broke a contact at our PO to get maintenance for the delivery trucks. The local guy had to lay off 4 people who serviced the trucks and my delivery guy says on average 3 trucks a day are down. He also claims the contract for employees was signed in the Bush years and makes it very difficult to terminate worthless employees. He feels it’s a morale issue as the real workers resent the lazy ones.

Willie, not quite unscratched. Strictly a management person but I still have nightmares of the unsecured trailer turning over with the fork lift guy still in it. The pulsating squirts of blood, deep cuts and calls from the local ER because an employee didn’t report the scratches that got infected and they needed to amputate a finger or 2, but actually had to one of the untouchable jackass SIL‘s. Or the other boss’s untouchable jackass of a SIL who tipped over rows of 6’x12’ rows of LowE glass with a tow motor he wasn’t trained to be on and laughed as he gave his wife a ride on a fork lift! Both totally stoned. Denied it but we had it on security tape. Or finally, the idiot who decided he would take the argon fill hoses and put it in his mouth! That non-union shop made me realize what good things the Union glass line in the 2 window company’s I worked for had helped safety. That sunrise picture was worth opening up the IPad this morning.

pictures, as always a great assortment of the real and modeled. Thank you for sharing, with a special shout out “Guy from the frozen North”. That flat and floor pictures I have been looking for on and off for months. Now I know how to weather my 2 flat cars. Thank you thank u.

There is more daily activity on this forum, heck just in this diner, then many previous Forums I have belonged to in a whole week.

Not sure what the day has in store other then some treadmill activity. I believe I will take sometime off from the silo building activity. I don’t want to paint either but I have 2 locomotives to strip and repaint to the below picture. I can’t run trains without re-installing the ESU Cab Control power system I am thinking of selling after Xmas. Enjoy your day. TomO
