Rail and Break Sounds

Hello there experts!

I'm still a total newbie continuing to research the DCC technology and closing in on finishing the design of my N scale layout. I'm using Kato track and In watching videos on Youtube I understand the horn and engine sounds but it seems that on some of the videos I hear wheels on rails screeching and wheels hitting the rail joints which is awesome. How is that sound generated? Can anyone point me in the right direction as to whether this is available in n scale?

My 2 best guesses are either an editing effect, or MRC sound system. Other might be some sort of DCC decoder function.
 
I went down to the Tennessee Railway Museum and one of the guys in the hobby shop there said the same thing, a fixed dcc function at a curve or speaker mounted in the layout.
