Apprentice Modeler
i have some model railroader magazines from the 50s that are older than i am. there is a 4-part coaling station construction article. does anyone know if there is any copyright issues with posting it digitally on the web. the article is from 50+ years ago?

It would be a safe bet that their copyright is still valid, since Kalmbach is still in business they would have renewed it as needed.

Do not post it here. If someone wants it, you could work a deal offline.

Hi gregc, kenw is quite correct. I doubt the admin would want to take a chance by allowing any materials without expressed permission of the owners to be posted here. So the best guideline for here is "if you don't own it, or don't have permission" then don't post it on any forum.

Copyright

Gregc, the best thing to do is contact Kalmbach Publishing and ask for their permission. Also give a brief description of what you want to use the article for. I did this for a project of mine and had no problems.

Cheers, Simon

Copyright laws protect works published prior to January 1, 1978 for a total of 95 years from their publication date.
