Painting Jig

I like to weather my rolling stock without the trucks installed. I also like to have the bottom of the car installed. I dont like to handle the car while painting or drying.

So i built this jig.
I mount the jig to the car using the truck mounting location. The jig is adjustable for any size car. It is heavy enough that it does not tip over. Small enough that you can get the air brush very close.

It cost me $20 in parts for 2 jigs and took me about 30 mins to build both.

wow...

I use a pointy wooden stick about 12-15" long with holes to mount to a single truck mtg hole. That way almost nothing is blocked. I hold it in my left hand, rotating, turning as needed and use my right hand to hold the airbrush. That way I can get to every single spot from any and all directions for very uniform finish.

to let it dry, i poke the stick in some foam or clamp it to a bench.....
