Operating Sessions in New England?

Does anyone know of individuals or groups running operating sessions in New England, or how to get involved? I find that I'm never going to get the time to build a layout at this stage of life - young family; young business - but I'd really like to participate in running a railroad from time to time. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Well, for a one shot deal, as far as I have to. For anything recurring not much further from Portland than Boston. Kathryn - my wife - would love a weekend in Boston so I could build in train time while she had art museum time. We have family in Groton, CT, so similarly I could coordinate a train session with a weekend away.

The North Shore Model RR Club in Wakefield MA has monthly operating sessions and they're typically short of people wanting to run trains! They're trying to stay as true as they can to period and procedure, by which I mean, it's run in a reasonably serious way. They use a combined DCC and manual-block control system.

This is their Web address (you need Java to get the menus):
http://www.nsmrc.org/

I'm not a member there but I have friends who are, and I occasionally join their operating sessions.

[Edited a couple of hours later because I tried to read their site without Java turned on and said it wasn't easy to navigate. It's actually fine.]

John, that could be exactly what I'm looking for. I've sent them an e-mail thank you. Any other ideas would still be welcomed.

Hey Rigby,

Here's a link to The worlds greatest hobby:http://www.greatesthobby.com/
They have a Model railroad club locator, here's a link to 3 clubs within 75 miles of your location:

And here's a link to a search within 75 miles of Groton,CT:

Hope that helps.
