Generally, I thought you weren't supposed to ride ahead of the handle. More than once, a guy hit a bump or lost his grip and fell off and got ran over by his own handcar. I saw a list of railroad accidents from back in the day and there several incidents of that.

Yes the handcar one. I didn't mean to cause any confusion, but I was hesitant to post just the picture (afraid it didn't give proper credit to the owner), so I just posted the link to the page. Figured everyone would know it was the first one, being railroad related.
