New layout help

Hi,

I recently got another Lionel O Scale ready to run set for Christmas. This is my thrid. I have 3 rings of track (2 standard O; 1 fastrack). 3 transformers (CW-80, 80BW, and 36amp accessory) with TMCC. I also have a ton of HO stuff. I decided that I now have too much stuff to just put up at christmas. I want to build a layout. What I need help on is what scale to use and what steps to go about to build this. The size can be 6x8 max.

The first thing you need to do is decide on your scale. The next thing, which may be realated to the scale question, is how much space you have available in your layout room. I know you said 6x8 max but how big is the room? You need room to walk around the layout.

I'd suggest the first thing you read is Chip's (spacemouse) guide for beginners at http://www.chipengelmann.com/trains/Beginner/BeginnersGuide01.html. It's a short read but it will help you focus on what you want from a layout.
