Mounting Backdrop With Pins

This gentleman posted a video showing how he mounted a backdrop just using clear push pins, rather than the adhesive route. This is appealing to me because I want to be able to remove and relocate my backdrop if necessary. Has anyone else chosen this method? I have seen many use double-sided tape, but not pins. Thanks.

I have not gone this route. Mine had a self stick back. I guess the pin’s would work. Can’t off the top think of many drawbacks. You could try it for a while and if it doesn’t work out mount it more permanently.

Interesting concept, but I have trouble pushing those pins into plywood, or the sheathing that I use as the backdrop. He may have addressed this in the video, but the link just took me to his You Tube site and I didn't want to search out that video.

Over time your backdrop will sag. Even just the normal changes in humidity will affect how the materials look.

However, as a temporary solution I am sure this would be a good option!

To more directly answer your question, I made a large backdrop from a plastic/nylon tablecloth material 14' long and 4'wide, hung using pins poked into the sheet rock. I painted the vinyl with spray cans for clouds and shadows. The tablecloth was light blue I believe.

This was meant to be a temporary backdrop and was eventually replaced, however it did receive some compliments. This was the original backdrop on my old layout taken down in 2016.

You can see the backdrop in this video:
