Maryland CSX derailment

Just after midnight this morning a CSX coal train derailed in downtown Ellicott City MD, some cars falling 20 feet to the street below. Unfortunately, 2 19 year old girls were on the bridge and sadly lost their lives.

The location is but a 40 minute ride from my house, and I have walked beneath this bridge (with trains on it) several times,,never thinking about what could happen!

Too sad.

The bridge was [luckily] for trains only.

I'm concerned about the museum, though; it is right there in the middle of all this mess. Including that restored I-5 caboose. :(

UPDATE:
According to posters on the B&O Yahoo group message board, the caboose and the museum buildings were spared from any serious damage.

So the girls, from news accounts, were on the bridge, where they had no business?
If so, it is a tragedy that was completely avoidable. I thought they were in a car or walking on the sidewalk under the bridge.

I work across the street from the CSX tracks going through DC. This mornings live newscast from the scene showed locomotive 267, which goes by about 2-3 times a week. Its probably running rerailed hoppers back to the yard for repairs and inspection.
