Marx loco propulsion

I'm new to this. Have collected two different Mark steam loco sets. One loco has a center contact underneath for the center rail on a 3 rail track, but the other loco (older?) lacks a center contact. What is its means of propulsion? Thanks.

The only other choice is a spring windup. There is more to motor than just a pickup.

Yes, I had a few wind up Marks in my collection. Is there a hole in the side of the unit. As I recall the keys were square ended.

Yes, there is a side hole, so I did find a square key on ebay. On receipt, my loco wound up and ran, so thank you very much.

Right, turns out my Marx set is 'mechanical' instead of electrical. Thanks for your help.
