Macy's Auctioning Seattle Store's Christmas Train Display

The Christmas train layout featured in the window of the Seattle Macy's store for 73 years is being auctioned off on March 24. The store itself close more than a year ago. The layout is part of an auction of the store fixtures and warehouse equipment. There are a handful of videos of the layout on YouTube. And the auctioneer's site has some photos.

I wonder if anyone will buy it? The packing and shipping costs would be quite large!

At a guess, for display purposes, it would be Lionel gauge and because of it's history highly collectable, and those collectors are swimming in money. They even have their own TV show on Dish.

Kind of sad, though, to see all the big stores going under.

One of the images on the auctioneer's website mentions the following:
Lionel
M.T.H. Electric Trains
L.G.B. By Lehmann
Piko

Charles Ro

There is no explanation of what this list means, but it is likely a list of where the locos and rolling stock were purchased.

MTH and Piko are brands, IIRC. LGB is Large Garden Scale. Lionel is O-scale.

We are pleased to offer the largest selection and best pricing for all your model train & hobby needs. Our goal is "to provide our customers with top quality products and friendly efficient service".

The names of the five companies and brands appear on a photo of a handwritten note on the auctioneer's website:

I get the feeling that someone at the auction company found the note among the train stuff and thought it might be meaningful to a prospective bidder.

If they put the collection on eBay, they might get a $1 for it.
