How to do marble effect on model buildings and plinth


Several years ago, on another forum, a member there wanted a marbled building front under some windows and panels on some rectangular columns. He went and took photos of a building that had the actual marble he was wanted to model, taking a small bunch of photos of the marble panels there. He printed his photos out and cut out the shapes and designs he wanted of the marble panels he needed. The trick is getting the photos nice and flat so they look like the real thing. Also enlarging or reducing the photo size can add to the realism. A laser printer using photo paper also adds to finished look of the marble panels. I have never used this method but the forum members finished building was very convincing.

That's a clever idea - perfect for larger surfaces.
