How the Forum Spelling Correction Work?

As far as I know, there is no spell-check on the forum. It all resides on your own computer. I may be wrong here and a moderator may need to correct me.
Spell check on your computer only.
There are sometimes that some words are not in the database. I have come across this a few times.
My father told me 100's of times that I couldn't spell s&^t with three tries. He was a champion speller - me? Not so much!

Now the "strange thing"!
The ASUS laptop that is upstairs (win8 upgraded to win10) -- I cannot get the spellcheck to work on two MR sites that I frequent daily. Settings are on and won't do it?
I have to have WORD on to check forum spelling.
Maybe my computer cousin can figure it out - if I can remember to ask him.
