I have a few graham farish steam loco models, using the motor in the tender and gears in the tender.

To be honest it sucked had no power and slipped etc.

I hear a few of the newest releases are changed with a motor in the boiler like the jp models do etc.

Anyone able to tell me if they are good runners and good with grades. my line has some steep grades.

was thinking of forking out the cash to import one for xmas. just havn`t made up my mind theres about 6 locos i`m leaning on from dapol and graham.

thanks

I have one of the newer models with the drive in the boiler. They don"t pull as well as the newer Bachmann steam. It's a 4-6-2. I added Bullfrog Snot to one of the drivers and additional power pick up to tender and now is much better. You can also coat one of the drive wheels with a thin layer of silicone for a traction tire. If they had better pulling i would get more English steam, but without traction tires you wont get much.
