Photo of my lead Athearn GP35 locomotive that belongs in a consist of 3 more SP GP 35 units. The other 3 units (not shown) were "dummy" units I purchased over 30 years ago, but never did anything to them until recently. All 4 units were given new Athearn motors, wheels, trucks along with Soundtraxx decoders and speakers, Kadee couplers and other details. The lead unit shown here also has an LED for a headlight and snow plow and all units were heavily weathered (I don't think SP kept their units very clean over the long haul)
