I picked up this new old stock Athearn blue box SD40-2 on ebay. It started life as an undecorated "chickenwire" version. I guess it was (at the time) an improved tooling model. The radiator grilles also have nice fan detail. I installed a simple soundtraxx decoder for DCC, but it has no sound. I decided to model a fantasy paint scheme for my Cargill grain elevator. It would be assigned duties there. Basically it's painted with Model Masters enamels through my badger airbrush. The decals are micro-scale and they are left overs from several sheets. I also added various details such as horn, antennas, ac unit, lift bars, and hoses. It was a fun project and I enjoyed painting it very much. Thanks for looking.
