Finished converting Kato E8/9 to LokSound

GGNInNScale

Granite Gorge and Northern Again
I removed the NCE N12A0 decoder that I installed a couple years ago, replaced with a LokSound Micro DCC Kato Direct Widebody. Added a 11x15mm OWS speaker with a custom 3D printed case. The rear of the frame was milled to fit the speaker and case. The decoder dropped in, soldered to the motor leads. I clipped the front copper strips and hard wired the front truck contacts to the copper strips for better power feed. I used the 3mm LED from the decoder set in the front; no rear light. I customized the sound files a bit, and loaded the CVs from my LokProgrammer. I removed the front coupler and filled the hole with Evergreen plastic sheet, then painted to match. It pulls a 190 gram load (5 cars, NMRA weighted) with no problem. The shell amplified the sound a bit, so I had to reduce the volume on the engine, horn and bell, but it sounds great. Oh, forgot. The Kapton tape was there just to hold things while I soldered the wires. I did not bother to remove it.
