Diorama finished!

Hi All,

The diorama I made for natural light photography solves a problem.

I like to put the camera on a tripod and shoot without flash on my layout, but I discovered that low, artificial light caused excess graininess. I’d I’m not sure if this is caused by the high ASA or the slow shudder speed, or both. (How does a digital camera behave like film in this respect?)

I compared outdoors shots with indoor shots and found much crisper resolution. This compelled me to make a stage for outdoor pictures.

This diorama allows me to take outdoor pictures in the shade on sunny days.

Very nice. I find that even with my digital camera, natural light gives me the best result. Nothing looks more like sunlight than sunlight. FWIW, if you put curved corners in your backdrop it will look more realistic. No corners showing up.

The higher the ASA the grainier the photo will be. Shooting with an ASA of 400 shouldn't produce a lot of grain though. You can reduce the ASA, but that will cause other issues. As Skillman said, natural light or shooting with filtered falsh will always produce crisper results.
