12VDC latching relay

Hi, Jack from Star Idaho. I have been trying to find a supplier for a simple 12VDC latching relay but I have not had a lot of luck. Does anyone know where I can find these at an economical price? Need Help!

If I remember correctly, Radio Shack handles them, altough it may need to be ordered online as stock of electronic parts in stores have fallen dramatically as RS changed its focus to the mobile phone business....

Check the relays at http://www.mouser.com/search/Refine.aspx?Ntt=latching+relay&No=125. Mouser electronics is always a good place to find almost any hard to locate electronic part. I could not find a 12 volt latching relay at the RS site.

You can always build your own latching relay too if you want, you just need one extra set of contacts. Parallel the normally open extra set of contacts with a spst push-button then take another spst button and put it in-line with the voltage source to the relay. Push button 1 the relay makes and latches. push button 2 the relay unlatches. I have done that many times. There are of course many other ways to do it.

Agreed, making one is easy. You just need to have a reset button to unlatch when needed.
