Good evening gang!

Flo, Twisted tea my dear if you will please, with a shot of Jim Beam on the side. 10 of 8 this morning the new boss is up my a$$ like a bad suppository, so I said screw this, so I went about my day not saying another word to him. In fact I barely spoke to anyone, except when I had to. By the end of the day he was dying to engage me in conversation about anything. All I gave him were short, direct answers. 2 can play this game!!!

Spent the last 2 hours trying to resurrect my Epson printer. Ink cartridges' are good, still nothing comes out on paper, time for a burial. This time it will be replaced with a laser machine.

Good Evening!
so I went about my day not saying another word to him.
My wife does that to me all the time. I call it my 'peace and quiet' space.

I made some concrete wall sections with that cheap $2.00 model clay bought at the dollar store. The fact it's easy to work with makes it worth the $2.00, but it shrinks and cracks. I spread carpenters glue onto the wood formers before packing down the clay with a ruler:

Tomorrow, I'll paint it my concrete colour. Fact is, the clay dries a better concrete shade than my concrete colour; but, I'm gonna keep it universal.

Have a great night. It's meteorlogical springtime!

The cracks actually make for a good aged appearance. You see foundations all over the place that have aged and cracked.

I think it looks great!

The previous owner is supposed to text me tomorrow with the particulars. I'm going to bring up the fact she took off, and see what they want to do. He also wanted to know what will keep her from darting off again. The last thing I want is for her to get hurt, if we can get past her fear and flight issues, she will probably be a good pet.
Time, patience, and doggie hugs. It is great you found her.

Hopefully if you have the weekend off you can spend some time with her and build some trust.

Let her eat with you, have a feast!

Okay, I'm finally getting the info I needed before all this went down with the dog. It turns out the dog was a rescue, force-surrendered as a young dog, where animal control seized her.
Generally, I am against capital punishment. In cases of animal cruelty, I would volunteer to be the executioner. There is a special place in hell for these people. The quicker they get there the better.

I hope things get better at work. It sounds like he may be getting worried he will lose you.

Great photos!

Let me know what printer you get and how you like it. The last two times I needed a color printer I wanted a laser. Once staples was out of stock and the second time, I got cheap and listened to the sales associate. I regret not buying the color laser printer.

@ kbkchooch Re: your post #402, and that crick' swimmin' thang...

I recognize the guy on the left. The guy wearin' the stripes. He's actor Gert Frobe, from "Those Magnificent Men In Their Flying Machines."

You nailed him, right down to the moustache, yes you did. A ten out of ten there <clap clap clap>.

Love the diner too. :D

Morning troops! 47F looking for 69F with clear, sunny skies.

Survived my chemo yesterday - only a little lethargic afterwards. I did take a short nap after havinf a ham, lettuce, and tomato sandwich; I was really hungry after hurrying around and pushing it to get to the treatment center. Believe me - it's only 17 miles away, but can take 45 min to make it due th the explosive traffic. DOT is building an additional 3 lanes each way through the congested part bringing the total to 6 each direction! When the Spousal unit and I moved here 33 years back - there was only a two lane each way interstate thru town. Playing "dodge the orange barrels" does not enhance the flow!

I have a day off from the medical front, I may stay in bed for most of it.
Next week is a meeting with a "pain" specialist and another two days later with the Oncologist.
It is hoped that she will be able to have pinpointed the source of the cancer. If not, then I will have to assume that I am part of the N.E.T.S. crowd - which is sort of a rare bird? Here is a link - if interested:

My spouse, KATE, has really been supporting; she sits with me while the "drip" goes on for 2-3 hours and is there to drive me home afterwards. Last night she made a trip to the store and made me a HUGE country fried (chicken fried for us Southern folk) steak with smashed taters, spinach, and country gravy. I have a jewel!

More later!

I'm very sorry to have, more or less, overlooked several of YOUR postings.
Grizzled - DAVID, and others who have ailing spouses ... my heart goes out to you!
Aging gracefully is tough enough without complications.
As a friend once said to me,"we have to play the cards we were dealt"!

I have the YUL Brynner look - no hair!

Good morning all. A large coffee and blueberry muffin please, Flo.

Sherrel. Good to hear from you. Kate is a gem. When you find one you wonder how you could live alone.

A quiet day for us with nothing in the diary. I must do a mini-shop though. I'll do that this afternoon.

Must check on Dawn.

Back later.

Morning all,

47° going for a high later of 40°...oh wait. that's the evening temp, not the high. Supposed to be overcast and getting colder through the day.

Gotta go to the boy's house after work as they are treating for termites. We caught a colony getting started, and they're not into the house yet. Due to the way the house was built, they're going to use the bait system (sentracon). Then I may go next door and work on the garage door for the daughter. Too wet and chilly to really work outside though.

Sherrel: Glad to hear you doing ok. Sounds like you found a keeper.

Terry: Glad to hear they found the dog.

David and Grizzled: Sorry the spouses aren't doing too well.

Good Morning All. Currently cloudy and 56°, but it will probably rain lightly a little more this morning. There are thunderstorms to the south but they're moving NE; might get some sprinkles from the outer edge. Rainfall total yesterday was 0.8" that fell over a 20 hour span, so no flooding or runoff. We were on the edge all day. 30 miles south at the TWU station they have gotten 3" in the last 24 hours.

The grocery trek just happened to occur in between the major storms in that area, and I met my SIL to get the granddog while I was there. We always manage to dog-sit when there's rain, so a towel by the door is a necessity. Surprisingly, gasoline prices in Denton have fallen back below $3/gal. But the grocery prices are still inching upwards, and "shrinkflation" seems to be affecting everything. While a pound of meat is still a pound, quantity of a lot of boxed and canned goods has been reduced but still at the same price as the older larger size.
Today, I have to drive the Lexus to Dallas for scheduled maintenance at 10:30. I normally do all of this stuff myself, but we got a year's worth of maintenance for free (supposedly) when we bought the car. To make the trip worth while, I will stop at Discount Model Trains and drop a few Ben Franklins there.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I continued adding headstones in the cemetery until the battery in the portable LED worklight needed recharging. So I advanced on my next selected minor project list of adding trees to the areas that I identified earlier in the week. There are already some in some places, but they are all candidates for more.
First up is either side of the Old Mill Feed & Seed store in the rural area between Charlottesville and Rycon Township.
Before:

After adding two untrimmed trees:

On the north side, before:

Then I added a single tree there, also untrimmed:
IMG_1420.JPG

Yep! I put the hay bale back on the dock where it belonged.
During the course of this improvement, I noted that I never finished the ground cover between the main line and the spur to the feed store.

I'll do this right away since I have my booster stool there right now.

Troy - I have watched a few videos of military modelers before, and I have been really impressed with the way most of them handle the airbrush.
Tom O - The post office must love seeing you walk in the door.
Todd - Interesting story about Jake. I know what you mean about getting behind here on the forum. There's a few threads that I can no longer follow, and a few that get buried pretty quickly.
Grizzled - Coupon shopping isn't too bad for me. I generally only shop at one grocery store. I will not drive from store to store looking for the best deals. As a frequent shopping member, I go to the online coupons and click on the ones that I might use. If I do purchase that item, it is automatically credited. Those coupons are usually good for a month before they expire and can be used multiple times. I don't purchase stuff just because there is a coupon, I just "clip" if it is something I will be getting. There's generally between 400-500 available. On an average trip, I use maybe a dozen.
I am sad to read about your wife's misadventures. You're both in my prayers.
Mac - I wouldn't worry about wood ashes contaminating the water well. Unless you're burning treated or glued wood (plywood, MDF, etc), wood ashes are very safe and they barely leach more than a foot down. I use my wood ashes in my organic garden as a source of Potassium.
Curt - When I purchase new cars, I always make the salesman throw a full size rim into the trunk before I drive off. They never charged me. I then go ahead and pay for a regular tire of my choice for it, and include it in the normal tire rotation.
Thank you for the comment regarding the cemetery.
Sherrel - Keep up the fight. You're doing well if you can eat a chicken-fried steak meal (that's what I call them as well). I make them occasionally, but my wife, who's a born Southern girl, always makes the gravy

Everybody have a great day and a wonderful weekend if that applies. Every day is a weekend after retirement.

Morning folks. A cold front is currently rolling in, expecting some rain with it as well(Edit: its raining as I'm typing this). Even talk of possible hail.

Been tinkering on a non-running Athearn U28B parts loco I snagged off Ebay. Got it running, but since I really have no need for a U28B I may just pull the motor and trucks from it.

Oh and I snagged this pic yesterday. These derailed tank cars have been sitting here for several weeks as they're being vented off. Last week one had a flare out the vent pipe.
