Thanks!Your rock-work turned out well!
How is the oil platform to build so far? I had heard it wasn't the easiest to build.
Thanks!
The oil platform is a little frustrating to be honest. The directions aren’t the best and unfortunately a few of the pieces in the kit are warped making things a little tricky.
I used fine ballast, light brown and cinders.Looks great so far. Did you use fine or medium ballast?
Oh yes, I am quickly learning that!Surprise! Surprise!
Walthers kits have the least user friendly instructions of any manufacturer. You will probably have extra pieces on the sprue that aren't even for your model. Just take your time and test fit, multiple times, before gluing.
Thanks! Not sure how helpful I can be as I’m not the greatest at it either but I’ll do my bestThe oil loading platform looks great.
I have 2 kits to combine. I will probably be coming to you for advice. Im not the best kit builder.
Looks great!Hey I think I have two of those. I don’t know where they came from, probably some past deal.
I have parts for them somewhere.

The train is enroute, got held up at the coffee shop I suppose.Well done as always. But....where is the train ?
If you have any of the darker grass around, sprinkle that on the lighter grass, no grass area is the same colour it contains lots of light and darkI applied static grass on the layout today and the colors I chose were not a good match unfortunately. They were light and medium green but come off VERY bright!

I am trying to come up with a solution for this problem and I’m thinking the best option is to make the surrounding grass brighter as well, as opposed to the current more dull colors.
I may be able to layer the static grass as well with some fine turf or another product but not sure at the moment.
On another note, you can see that I’ve also begun adding rocks and other details to the rock faces. I bought two shades of talus and used my weathering powders to make the colors darker and muted.

Do you mean darker fine turf that I sprinkle on the non-static grass areas? Or darker static on top of the brighter static grass? If you have any of the darker grass around, sprinkle that on the lighter grass, no grass area is the same colour it contains lots of light and dark
I would try a mixture of both on small areas so you can gauge the results to see what works for you.Do you mean darker fine turf that I sprinkle on the non-static grass areas? Or darker static on top of the brighter static grass?
I will give it a try, thanks!I would try a mixture of both on small areas so you can gauge the results to see what works for you.
