New Train layout 6-1-23

Started to seperate brass Track for the new tables today. I have a mess of #4 #6 & #8 Turnouts, plus all the 9" straights, curves, rerailers, short pcs. & about 25 pcs. of NS 3ft Flex., & about 35 end of track bumpers & a bunch of crossings I won't be using. After I get all that laid on 2 tables I'll still have a bunch left over. I also found a big bunch of Code 83 brown ties & NS track that I will probably sell after I finish it all. After everything is nailed down I'll clean everything so I can solder drops to a mess of Toggle switches at the ends of each table. Long ways to go. 4-16-24

Finished the yard for rolling stock yesterday. Took 2 days to lay it out & then lay all the track & still don't have enough room for all the Box cars. I have 81. Will not have enough room for the 10 Grain cars either & all the Log & Pipe cars either. Next is installing all the ground throws & then wiring up all the Blocks & then cutting all the holes in the end board for all the Toggles to power the blocks. The other table will be last to install track, etc. All those engines are just sitting there for now in the last picture. Don't have enough space for them either. 4-20-24

Well, I didn't like the Yards the way it was. The Tracks were to far apart, so I added some more turnouts & made the tracks longer. I also redid the 2 curves at the top end & I will build a Rolling Stock maintenance Barn next week to be at the ends of those curves. I also put the Ground Throws in today. have 12. 4-21-24

Took me 2 days to build this rolling stock workshop out of lego's. Started building it on my workbench & the finished it on the table where I just finished laying track for the 1st set of Yards. 4-23-24 The Building is 10" wide by 20" long 4&1/2" high. It only has a temporary roof now. I'll cut out a piece of clear Lexan for the roof next week so I can lift it off when needed.

Put the clear Plexiglass roof on today. The roof was to short for the building length so I shortened it up an inch. can't tell it though. 4-24-24

There is a lot of that going around! I have an around-the-room layout in a 14 x 14 room, with several yards, and there are a bunch of box cars, passenger cars, and other rolling stock, plus 18 Mantua Mikados and Pacifics sitting on shelves in my library, and am out of room for them! And my wife thinks she has problems with dandilyons growing in our yard!

I have an around-the-room layout in a 14 x 14 room, with several yards, and there are a bunch of box cars, passenger cars, and other rolling stock, plus 18 Mantua Mikados and Pacifics sitting on shelves in my library, and am out of room for them! And my wife thinks she has problems with dandilyons growing in our yard!

Added a Paint Shop to the New Yards next to the Maint. Shop. It's 5&1/2 wide by 5&1/2 high by 13" long. I also added 2 more rails for the paint shop & 2 more ground throws. I also drilled 7 holes on each side of the table for 14 Blocks. 4-26-24

Started laying Track yesterday for the other table of Yards & finished up by Noon today. 4-27-24 I lined up the 2 tables with a turnout at the end of the new Yard as you can see by using a 5ft Ruler in case I decide to build a bridge to tie the 2 yards together as in Picture #2.

Both Yards are finished as far as Electrical hookups to a seperate switch to each track. Lots of under table wiring & soldering to table top tracks. next is landscaping between the tracks & ballast. Also going to add some more buildings. It works real good now. I left an engine on each track to test to make sure everything was working.

Built a new Distribution warehouse for rail to Truck. All Lego's. 20" long by 10" wide & 3" high. I might add a loading ramp to the rail side later.

Redid the other Warehouse yesterday too. It wasn't big enough on the rail side & I made the Truck openings smaller on the Truck side.

Started placing rolling stock on the new yards this morning & found 20 cars that need some TLC like replacing couplers, wheels & truck attachments. I'll work on them one day & get them all repaired. Got all the tank Cars, Box Cars, Flat Cars w/loads on the layout. Already had the 65 Coal cars in their area of the Coal loading Facilities. Also got all the Grain Cars on the layout too.

Built a whole bunch of small Houses & Apartments for railroad personnel last week. These will be added all over the layout after I do some scarce landscaping.

It's hard for me to believe I got all the electrical hooked up & working. This layout has a lot of wiring installed under the layout. The yards alone took me about 2 weeks to do w/turnout Blocks, regular mainline blocks & then drilling all those holes in the facia for a mess of Toggles & all are marked. On past layouts I always had quite a bit of help. None on this one. Some more pictures. The 1st 3 pictures is some new Lego Bricks that I got in to see how they would work out for a Vintage Hotel, then theres 2 pictures of my reworked Work Bench. Got that little bench storage Bins from Harbor Freight. Ive got to add back the Test Track that was against the wall & 8ft long. Going to put it in front of the little cabinet this time. I also finally made a board for the Volt & Ammeter & screwed it to the end of the layout & it's wired to the CM-20 Walkaround throttle.

I almost Forgot to mention that a Thank You to the people that moved my listing over to: It's a lot easier for me to find. Is Bob Harbison still the owner of this Group? Just wondering because I had joined this group right after he started it way back when(long time before FB started).
