Pros: Portable, accurate, multiple scales (O, S, HO, N)
Cons: Your buddy wants to borrow it, hard to find on the web

Pros
+ Portable, use it anywhere on your layout where the base can allow it to set or use it on the test track.
+ Easy to loan to friends or use at a clinic.
+ Accurate
+ Easy to use, turn on power, run a train through it
+ Easy to change scale with a paper clip (O, S, HO, N)
+ Low power consumption
+ No wiring or assembly other than battery installation.

Cons
- Your buddy can borrow it and you have no defense for not lending it to him
- Does not work for Z
- Does not turn off automatically so the batteries can run down
- Diligent search of the internet, only found them listed on the Caboose Hobbies website (Http://www.caboosehobbies.com) in Denver, which is where I purchased mine. May be elsewhere, but I did not find them.
- Can't have it permanently on the layout without it looking pretty not OK!
